Have you ever thought about learning neuroscience at USP? University opens registrations for its specialization course in the area

USP, one of the most renowned universities in Brazil, has just launched an EAD specialization in Neuroscience and Learning in Education. This course aims to qualify professionals to apply innovative neuroscience techniques in the educational environment.

According to the institution, the USP/Esalq is offering a specialization course in Neuroscience and Learning in Education, entirely at a distance. The course, with a workload of 360 hours, includes 40 hours dedicated to the Course Completion Work (TCC).

Classes take place on Wednesdays, from 19pm to 23pm, and are recorded so that students can rewatch them at any time. The specialization lasts 18 months.

Target audience and registrations

The course is aimed at teachers, school managers, psychologists, educational psychologists, psychomotorists and speech therapists, among other professionals interested in deepening their knowledge in neuroscience and its pedagogical applications. Registration is now open and must be done online.

The registration fee is R$100 and classes start on November 13th. The monthly fee can be paid by bank slip or credit card, with a 15% discount for punctual payments. A Attendance at classes is accounted for by taking tests, requiring a minimum presence of 75%. If the student is unable to attend live classes, they can watch the recordings without prejudice. Free neuroscience course for teachers

In addition to specialization, Just as the CPG recently published, USP offers a free Neurosciences Applied to Education course, with 10 places available for basic education teachers across Brazil. This is an unmissable opportunity for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and apply new techniques in the classroom.

Free course details

The free course will be taught by the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto at USP and will have a total course load of 32 hours, spread over four weeks. Classes will be held from August 4, 2024 to November 30, 2024, all online, allowing teachers from any part of the country to participate.

Program content

During the course, participants will explore essential topics for understanding how the brain works and its influence on learning.

  • First week: Basic concepts about the central nervous system, associating the brain with behavior and demystifying neuromyths.
  • Second week: Specialized cells of the nervous system, identifying cell types and understanding neurotransmission.
  • Third week: Neuroplasticity, illustrating how behavior can alter brain function.
  • Fourth week: Memory and learning, discussing the differences between short- and long-term memory and the structures of the nervous system related to these processes.

Registration and vacancies

To sign up for the free course and secure one of the 10 places, interested parties must access the registration link on the USP website. Registration closes on July 31, 2024 or as soon as places are filled. USP highlights that vacancies will be filled in order of registration, so speed is essential to ensure participation.
