The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) announced the opening of vacancies for more than 170 free courses which will begin in the first half of 2025. The opportunity includes options for integrated high school education, technical courses and degrees, available on its 17 campuses spread across the state.
Free courses available at the Federal Institute
The Federal Institute offers a wide range of courses to meet different student profiles.
Those interested can enroll in integrated high school and technical courses, which include the Youth and Adult Education (EJA) modality, in addition to technical courses for those who are studying high school at other institutions and subsequent courses for those who have already completed high school.

Vacancies and selection processes at the Viamão campus
For the Viamão Campus, the following are available: vacancies in different modalities and shifts. Options include:
- Technology in Environmental Management: Undergraduate, with places for 40 students in the evening shift, with admission through ENEM or exam.
- Technology in Management Processes: Undergraduate, with 40 places also for the night shift, with admission through ENEM or exam.
- Administration Technician: Integrated with High School, with morning and afternoon vacancies, for 36 students in each shift, selected by lottery.
- Environmental technician: Integrated with High School, with morning and afternoon vacancies, for 36 students in each shift, selected by lottery.
Registration and selection process fee
Those interested in applying for free courses at the Federal Institute must register at Admission process of students for the first semester of 2025.
The registration period runs from September 26 to October 14, 2024. Although the courses are free, there is a registration fee.

However, low-income applicants may apply for a waiver of the application fee until September 25, 2024.
Details of the selection process of the Federal Institute
The selection process for courses The selection process of the Federal Institute may vary depending on the course and campus. Selection methods include a test, using the score from the National High School Exam (Enem) since 2019, or a draw among those enrolled.
Specific information on the selection method for each course is available in the list of courses published on the official IFRS website.
For those interested in participating in the Federal Institute's selection process, the main dates to be observed are the following: the request for exemption from the registration fee must be made between September 12 and 25, 2024.
The result of this request will be announced on September 26. The notices with details of the student selection will also be published on September 26.
The registration period for the Selection Process will be from September 26th to October 14th, with payment of the registration fee being possible until October 15th.
For courses with selection by lottery, the Federal Institute will hold the draw on November 12, and for courses that require a test, the test will be held on November 24.
