The agency approves an increase in highway toll rates. Starting February 11, tolls for passenger vehicles will be R$13,50, while motorcycles will pay R$6,75. Trucks with nine axles will be able to pay up to R$121,50.
In a country with continental dimensions like Brazil, highways are essential for the mobility of people and the flow of production.
Any change in toll rates has a direct impact on the economy and drivers' pockets.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, a new regulatory decision will result in adjustments to the prices charged on important roads in the state, affecting drivers and transporters who depend on these roads for their daily activities.

The State Agency for the Regulation of Public Services of Mato Grosso do Sul (Ages) approved a 4,83% increase in toll rates on highways managed by Concessionária das Rodovias do Leste MS SA, known as Way-112.
From February 11, 2025, the new values will come into effect, affecting five toll plazas.
For small cars, the fare will increase from R$12,91 to R$13,50. Motorcyclists will pay R$6,75, while trucks with trailers and tractor-trailers with nine-axle semi-trailers will be able to pay up to R$121,50 per ticket.
Highways and sections affected
The state concession covers a total of 412,4 kilometers, encompassing three important highways that cross the state:
- MS-112: It extends from the junction with BR-158, in Três Lagoas, to the junction with the same federal highway, in Cassilândia, with a total length of 200,5 kilometers.
- BR 158: The concession covers the stretch from Way-306 (Cassilândia) to the junction with the MS-444 highway (Selvíria), totaling 193,8 kilometers.
- BR 436: The concession covers from the junction with BR-158, in Aparecida do Taboado, to the end of the interstate bridge, with a length of 18,1 kilometers.
Location of toll plazas
The new values will be applied at five toll plazas spread across the concession stretches. The collection points are distributed as follows:
- BR 158: Km 78+100, in the municipality of Paranaíba.
- BR 158: Km 118+100, located in Aparecida do Taboado.
- BR 158: Km 174, also in Aparecida do Taboado.
- MS-112: Km 64+200, in Selvíria.
- MS-112: Km 193+300, in the Cassilândia region.
Justification for the adjustment
According to Agems, the tariff update is a procedure provided for in the concession contract and aims to guarantee the economic and financial balance of the service provided by the concessionaire.
The adjustment was published in ordinance no. 288 in the State Official Gazette, based on the need for maintenance and improvement of highways.
Way-112 justifies the increase by highlighting that the amounts collected are invested in road safety, paving quality and support services for drivers, such as towing and emergency assistance.
According to the concessionaire, these improvements contribute to reducing the number of accidents and facilitating the transportation of goods and passengers.
Impact on drivers and carriers
For passenger drivers, the increase may seem small, but for transporters and fleet owners who cross the highways daily, the accumulated cost can represent a significant impact.
The transport sector already faces challenges with high fuel and vehicle maintenance costs, and the toll adjustment adds to these challenges.
The Federation of Cargo Transport and Logistics Companies (Fetransul) expressed concern about the increase, warning that it could result in adjustments in freight prices, which would also impact the end consumer.
“Transporters already face a series of financial and tax challenges. Any adjustment in operating costs ends up being reflected in the prices of transported products,” highlighted a spokesperson for the entity.
Comparison with other highways in the country
The toll adjustment on Way-112 follows a trend observed in other concessions throughout Brazil.
In states such as São Paulo and Paraná, tariffs have also undergone adjustments in recent years, always with the argument of the need for maintenance and expansion of infrastructure.
Experts point out that the concession model has advantages, such as better road maintenance, but that greater transparency is needed in the accountability of concessionaires.
Waiting for improvements
With the new values in force, it is expected that the revenue will be used to make effective improvements to the highway infrastructure.
Drivers are left with the task of monitoring and demanding the execution of the promised works, ensuring that the amount paid in tolls brings a return in safety and comfort on the roads.
According to experts, given the increase in costs, it is essential that drivers are aware of possible route alternatives, assess the impact on financial travel planning and, if necessary, seek strategies to minimize the effects of the adjustment, such as sharing vehicles or using alternative routes when viable.
In any case, the adjustment in Way-112 fares reignites the debate about the cost of mobility in Brazil and the efficiency of the concession model.
What remains to be seen is whether drivers will see, in practice, the benefits promised with the increase in revenue.
I think that nothing justifies such an expensive toll as ours. For me, the biggest problem in Brazil is us, who complain to each other and then pay and go to the beach. Our protests were limited to 10 cents on bus fares. What we see today is a party of tolls, speed cameras and many fines, and of course it is always the citizens' fault. I repeat, we are to blame, but it is for not stopping Brazil due to so many abuses, corruption and many people sucking on the teat.
This is absurd, they want to put an end to self-employed workers, bad roads, expensive diesel, now there's an increase in tolls, Brazil has to get a grip, ffffffff, ……,,…,
