The Federal Institute is accepting applications for free English and Spanish courses at beginner level. Classes, starting in April, will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online meetings.

O Federal Institute of Acre (Ifac), through the Rio Branco Campus, launched Notice No. 02/2025 to select candidates interested in Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses in English and Spanish, both at the beginner level.

Classes are scheduled to begin in April 2025 and will be taught in a hybrid format, combining in-person meetings and online activities. This approach aims to serve students, staff, and members of the external community.

Vacancies and target audience

In total, 50 places are offered, 25 for each course. These places are distributed equally among three categories:

  • Ifac Servers: 8 vacancies
  • Ifac Students: 8 vacancies
  • External community: 9 vacancies

If there are remaining vacancies, they will be redistributed primarily to the external community, followed by students and, finally, by Ifac staff.

Requirements for participation

To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum age: 14 years old
  • Education: Have completed at least the 2nd cycle of Elementary Education, even if incompletely

These requirements ensure that participants have an adequate educational foundation to follow the course content.

Registration: how and when

Registration is free and can be completed until February 7, 2025. There are two options available:

  1. Online: By filling out the electronic form available in the links provided in the notice.
  2. In person: In the language room at the Rio Branco Campus, on January 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29, from 8 am to 11:30 am, and on January 20 and 27, from 14 pm to 17 pm.

It is important that candidates pay attention to the dates and times to ensure their registration within the established deadline.

Selection process: electronic lottery

The selection of candidates will be carried out through an electronic draw, using the sorteador.com.br platform, on February 14, 2025, at 8:30 am.

The preliminary result will be released on February 17, and the final result is expected on February 20.

Enrollment for successful candidates will take place between February 24 and March 21. Each class must have at least 15 students enrolled for the course to be effective.

Hours and certification

Each course has an annual workload of 160 hours, distributed over 4 hours per week. Classes are scheduled to take place on Tuesdays, from 17:30 p.m. to 19:30 p.m.

At the end of the course, students who meet the attendance and academic performance requirements will receive a certificate of completion, which could be a differentiator in the job market or in future academic opportunities.

Benefits of learning a new language

Mastering a new language offers several benefits, such as:

  • Professional opportunities: Many companies value bilingual or multilingual employees, especially in an increasingly globalized world.
  • Cognitive development: Learning a new language can improve memory, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Cultural connections: Understanding a new language allows for deeper immersion in different cultures, broadening horizons and perspectives.

Taking advantage of this opportunity offered by Ifac can be the first step towards reaping these benefits and transforming your personal and professional life.

Don't miss this chance and take a language course!

Places are limited and demand is high. Make sure you register before the deadline and get ready to embark on a learning journey that could open new doors and opportunities. For more information, visit the official Ifac website and consult the full notice.
