What is the Bachelor's Savings Fund?
The Ministry of Education (MEC) and the federal government announced on January 14, 2025 the Pé-de-Meia Licenciatura program, an unprecedented initiative in Brazil.
This measure offers a monthly grant of R$1.050 for students who enroll in undergraduate courses recognized by the MEC through the Unified Selection System (Sisu).
The idea is simple: to attract new talent to teaching and value the teaching profession, which is essential for the future of Brazilian education.
To secure the scholarship, the student must achieve at least 650 points in the National High School Exam (Enem).
Of this monthly amount, R$700 can be withdrawn directly, while the other R$350 will be deposited into a savings account.
The accumulated amount will be available for withdrawal within five years after completion of the course, provided that the graduate enters a public education system.
More Teachers: financial incentives and more opportunities
In addition to the Undergraduate Savings Grant, the federal government also launched the More Teachers Grant.
This initiative is aimed at public school teachers and offers a monthly grant of R$2,1, with the aim of filling gaps in regions lacking teachers..
Inspired by the Mais Médicos Program, the scholarship seeks to attract professionals to underserved areas and includes a lato sensu postgraduate course focused on teaching practice.
According to the federal government, the first payments of the Undergraduate Grant will begin in April 2025, with 12 initial places being made available for the program.
The Bolsa Mais Professores should benefit hundreds of educators in priority areas for public education.
National Teacher Test: a novelty for education
Another fundamental part of the Mais Professores Program is the National Teacher Test (PND).
Organized by the National Institute of Studies and Educational Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), the test will be applied annually and will function as a selection criterion for state and municipal public competitions..
With this, the government intends to improve the quality of teachers entering the public education system, encouraging the development of fundamental skills for a teaching career.
The PND also represents an effort to standardize selection processes throughout the country, facilitating access for qualified professionals to public education networks and ensuring greater transparency in hiring.
Valuing the teaching career with Mais Professores
In addition to scholarships and the national exam, the Mais Professores Program includes actions to value education professionals.
Among the benefits are discounts on hotels for public school teachers, offered through partnerships with the Ministry of Tourism and the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association (ABIH).
These measures aim not only to recognize the social importance of teachers, but also to create a more attractive environment for the career, combating dropout both during training and in the exercise of the profession.
According to information released by the MEC, the program was structured around five main axes:
- Selection for entry into teaching;
- Attractiveness for undergraduate courses;
- Teacher allocation;
- Teacher training;
- Appreciation of teachers.
These pillars reflect a comprehensive approach, which seeks to resolve issues ranging from the lack of teachers in certain regions to the challenges faced during training and professional development.
Impact on public education policies
The launch of the Mais Professores Program and the Pé-de-Meia Licenciatura program marks a significant advance in public education policies in Brazil.
By offering financial incentives, ongoing training and recognition, the federal government reinforces its commitment to improving the quality of public education.
Furthermore, the initiative has the potential to attract new talent to teaching and encourage those already in the profession to continue qualifying themselves.
According to Ministry of Education, this combination of financial incentives and social benefits represents a milestone in the appreciation of teaching.
The program was also inspired by successful international experiences, adapted to the Brazilian reality.
How to participate in the Undergraduate Savings Fund?
If you are interested in the initiative and want to participate, it is simple. Just get a minimum score of 650 points on the Enem and enroll in a degree course recognized by the MEC through Sisu.

What do you think of this news?
With the launch of the Licenciatura Fund and the Mais Professores Program, the federal government is taking an important step towards transforming education in Brazil.
Do you believe these measures are enough to solve the problems faced by teaching professionals? Leave your opinion in the comments!
The federal proposal is very good. But if there is no state policy, it will fail. Furthermore, it is necessary to encourage the return of many teachers, young and otherwise, who have abandoned the profession. The problem is undoubtedly the dropout rate, but also, and particularly, the dropout rate. This is serious and grave. Otherwise, the government will spend money on people who, a few years after starting teaching, will certainly abandon the profession as soon as they find other income.
