Ibama issued the operating license for Petrobras' FPSO Anna Nery in the Marlim field in the Campos Basin. The vessel is one of the bets of the state-owned company for the resumption of production in mature fields in the region.
For this Friday, (17/03), Petrobras is making significant progress in its project to revitalize the Marlim field, located in the Campos Basin. The Brazilian Institute of the Environment (Ibama) released this week the Operação needed to start production of the Anna Nery FPSO platform. The vessel has a production capacity of 70 barrels of oil per day.
With the receipt of the operating license from Ibama for production on the FPSO Anna Nery platform, Petrobras advances in the project to revitalize the Marlim field
Ibama recently issued the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery, a floating platform that will be used by Petrobras in the Marlim field, in the Campos Basin.
The granting of this license is an important milestone for Petrobras, which has been seeking to resume oil production in mature fields in the region for years.
- No soy or sugarcane! Brazil's largest exported product is oil, to the delight of Petrobras and other companies in the sector.
- From pre-salt to the largest gas reserve: Petrobras discovers 6 trillion cubic feet of gas in Colombia and leads global energy revolution
- The impressive numbers from the 10 oil platforms with the HIGHEST production in October: More than 2 million barrels per day in the spotlight in the pre-salt!
- Brazil to auction 78 MILLION barrels of oil! China took the majority in the last auction
The Marlim field is one of the largest oil producers in the Campos Basin and was discovered in 1985. Since then, it has been one of the highlights in the production of oil and natural gas, but now it needs to undergo a revitalization process.
The granting of the operating license by Ibama guarantees the state-owned company what is necessary to put the FPSO into production. The vessel has a production capacity of up to 70 barrels of oil per day. Furthermore, it can process up to 4 million m³ of gas per day.
The installation and production of fuels at the FPSO Anna Nery is just the first stage of the revitalization plan for Campo de Marlim, in the Campos Basin, by Petrobras.
The FPSO will be installed in a water depth of 927 meters and connected to 32 wells, and the company forecasts that peak production will occur in 2026.
Until then, the oil company continues to invest its efforts to ensure a good use of fuel reserves in the area.
Granting the operating license to Petrobras represents a good sign for the revitalization project at Campo de Marlim with Anna Nery
In order to obtain the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery, Petrobras had to comply with a series of requirements from Ibama.
The environmental agency assessed the impact of operating the floating platform on the environment and determined the measures that Petrobras should adopt to minimize these impacts.
In addition, Petrobras had to present a detailed study on the emission of greenhouse gases during the operation of the floating platform.
The state-owned company committed to adopting measures to reduce these emissions and contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact of its activity.
The granting of the operating license for the FPSO Anna Nery is a positive sign for Petrobras, which has been facing important challenges in recent years. In addition to the drop in oil production in the Campos Basin, the state-owned company also faced problems related to corruption and inefficient management.
Despite this, it has taken steps to overcome these challenges. The sale of non-essential assets, for example, has allowed the company to concentrate its investments in strategic areas.
For the next few months, with the operation of FPSO Anna Nery, Petrobras intends to return with the large production of Campo de Marlim, in the Campos Basin.
