O The Federal Institute of Pernambuco (IFPE) has just opened registration for a selection process that promises to change the routine of many teachers interested in working in the distance learning (EAD) modality. But make no mistake, this opportunity requires much more than just classroom experience.

With the growing demand for professionals trained in distance learning, the IFPE announced a simplified selection process for hiring distance tutors, aimed at courses in the Open University of Brazil System (UAB).

The selection offers scholarships worth R$1.100,00 to work in various specializations and degrees offered by the institution, under the coordination of CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel), linked to the Ministry of Education. Who can apply to be a tutor?

The opportunity to act as distance learning tutor it's not for everyone. According to the notice, the process requires candidates to be Brazilian-born or naturalized., are up to date with their electoral obligations and have at least one year of experience in teaching, whether in basic or higher education.

Another important criterion is that the candidate has the training required for the specific course in which he/she intends to work.

Furthermore, the candidate cannot be enrolled in the course you wish to tutor and cannot be linked to other scholarship programs, except in cases of postgraduate programs under the responsibility of CAPES or CNPq.

These requirements ensure that those selected are fully committed to the role of distance tutor, as determined by Law No. 11.273/2006.

courses available

IFPE offers a range of courses covering different areas of knowledge, and this is an opportunity for those who want to share their knowledge in a virtual environment. The selected tutors will work on lato sensu specialization courses and undergraduate degrees, between them:

Selection Criteria

The selection process is not random. Candidates will be assessed based on their academic background, qualifications, professional experience and volunteer activities., all criteria that are set out in detail in the official notice.

The aim is to ensure that the selected tutors are not only qualified but also experienced in dealing with the challenges of distance learning.

According to IFPE, the selection follows a rigorous scoring process, taking into account teaching experience and participation in continuing education programs.

The scholarship offered is worth R$1.100,00, according to the CAPES scholarship value table.

Importance of distance learning qualification

The increased demand for professionals specialized in Distance Education reflects the growing importance of this teaching model in Brazil.

According to recent data from the Higher Education Census, the number of students enrolled in distance learning courses exceeds that of in-person courses in some regions, demonstrating that this modality is not just a trend, but a consolidated reality in the Brazilian educational scenario.

In this sense, the search for qualified tutors is part of a larger effort by the Ministry of Education to ensure that distance learning students receive the same level of instruction as students in face-to-face courses.

The specialization in EAD, offered by IFPE, represents an opportunity for growth for both tutors and students, reinforcing the importance of accessible and quality education.

How to Apply
