The Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of USP (FFLCH-USP) has opened 60 vacancies for a writing workshop that will be held from October 1 to December 17, 2024. The course is an excellent opportunity for those looking to improve their writing skills, whether for academic or professional purposes.
Structure and topics covered in the workshop
Classes will take place on Tuesdays, from 19pm to 21pm, covering fundamental topics for the development of dissertative-argumentative writing.
According to FFLCH-USP, participants will have the opportunity to explore different types of dissertative texts, learn about the importance of cohesive elements and understand the structure and function of each part of the text.

- Types of dissertative text: learn to differentiate and apply the different formats of dissertative texts.
- The parts of the argumentative essay text: explore the structure that supports a good argument.
- Cohesion and coherence: understand the importance of cohesive elements between sentences, periods and paragraphs.
- Schematization of antagonistic ideas: learn how to structure and organize opposing ideas in a logical and convincing way.
- Planning and writing: discover the order in which arguments should be planned and written to ensure a clear and objective text.
- Paragraph and topic sentence: master the construction of cohesive paragraphs with well-defined topics.
- Types of argument focus: learn the different ways to approach and defend an argument.
- Introduction and conclusion: explore the different types of introductions and conclusions that can be applied in a dissertative text.
- Argumentative dissertation with intervention proposal: see how to effectively include intervention proposals in your essays.
- Grammar review: remember and apply the main grammatical rules of the standard Portuguese language.
