Small electric motor from the manufacturer Koenigsegg weighs only 28 kg but guarantees 340hp of power and 61,2 kgfm, this is up to three times more powerful than a car with a 1.0 engine
The Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg, made an announcement recently about the development of a innovative and super light electric motor known as Quark. According to the company, this engine has the potential to completely transform the global electric vehicle market.
O electric motor weighs only 28 kilos, that is, it can be carried in a backpack, yet it is capable of producing an impressive 340 horsepower and 61,2 kgfm of torque.
Koenigsegg developed the electric motor not only for installation in electric vehicles or hybrids, but also in future flying cars.

Boats and other locomotion projects that need a small and powerful engine like the Quark are also in the crosshairs as potential customers.
According to Koenigsegg, the new electric motor is able to achieve this level of performance due to its “Raxial” technology, which combines axial and radial flow. As a result, the motor manages to distribute the torque generated in its gearset more evenly and combine electromagnetism with better thermal maintenance, which contributes to the efficiency produced by the equipment.
Koenigsegg decided to use high strength steels from the aerospace industry in the construction of the Quark electric motor. According to Andreas Szekely, responsible for the development of the company's electric motors, it was necessary to reduce the weights as much as possible. For this reason, direct cooling was adopted, which is more efficient and allows for a more compact layout. See the video:

The Swedish technicians responsible for the development of the Quark decided to use carbon fiber for the rotor. It's the same type of carbon fiber that the company already uses in the steering wheel, seats and other components of its supercars. The company has also been using the same type of fiber for some time to make aerodynamic kits for Tesla vehicles.
Koenigsegg's electric motor alone is not enough to drive a vehicle's wheels. Therefore, the company created a comprehensive system called the Terrier that is made up of two Quark motors and an inverter, as seen in the video.
The propeller has direct drive and does not have a transmission, as the design of the electric motor is precisely to avoid loss of power and torque. As a result, the scope of the equipment was expanded, starting to serve even for aircraft that perform vertical takeoffs and landings.
It is certain that Koenigsegg will start using the Quark electric motor, at first in its new car models, however, the company does not rule out the sale of Quark to other automakers. Due to its enormous power and torque, it ends up becoming the ideal engine for hybrid sports cars, as it is capable of moving them when they are at low speeds.
