With the automotive sector undergoing a major transformation and the arrival of new Chinese automakers in Brazil, the CEO of JAC Motors provides an analysis of the entry of a strong competitor, BYD. The company, which promises to shake up the market with hybrid and electric vehicles, faces challenges that could jeopardize its rise in the country, according to the JAC executive.

In recent years, JAC Motors, also a Chinese automaker, has managed to establish itself in Brazil by investing in innovative vehicles and developing a robust support network. JAC's CEO believes that BYD, despite having a range of technologically advanced vehicles, may be making a strategic mistake by not focusing enough on local technical assistance and customer support services, a point considered crucial to gaining the trust of Brazilians.

BYD's arrival in Brazil and the risk in after-sales

BYD is bringing vehicles to Brazil High technology, including electric and hybrid models that promise autonomy and economy. However, the CEO of JAC warns that the difference in a car goes beyond technology.

For him, the lack of a robust after-sales structure could be an obstacle for the automaker to gain space in a market historically dominated by giants such as Volkswagen, Fiat and Toyota.

โ€œItโ€™s not enough to have advanced technology; Brazilian consumers want immediate support. The lack of an efficient and easily accessible support network could make consumers suspicious and harm BYDโ€™s image before it even becomes established,โ€ says JACโ€™s CEO.

BYD's strategies and challenges to compete in Brazil

BYD's entry also represents a logistical challenge and adaptation to the Brazilian market, which demands specific solutions due to the climate and road conditions.

According to JAC CEO, one of the success factors in Brazil is the adaptation of vehicles to local conditions and the creation of a service infrastructure that meets the expectations of a consumer accustomed to well-established brands. JAC, for example, invested in local partnerships and adapted its models to regional demands.

Fierce competition with established brands

To face brands that have decades of relationship with the Brazilian public, such as Volkswagen and Fiat, BYD needs to create a clear strategy focused on trust and customer service.

Even with advanced vehicles, JAC's CEO believes that the brand needs to build a closer connection with the public, offering technical support and high-quality after-sales assistance.

Despite the challenges, BYD is committed to expanding its electric vehicle sales, targeting a 10% growth in sales. The question that remains is: will Brazilian consumers prefer a newcomer brand over traditional brands?

The answer to this question depends on BYD's ability to understand and respond to local market expectations, something that JAC's CEO believes fundamental to success in Brazil.

Do you know anyone who bought a wonderful used BYD electric car? This is the electric car's Achilles heel. Don't say you haven't thought about it.

I don't plan on selling mine now, and when I do, I'll hand it over to Byd, who will give me back 80% of the FIPE. This **** speech from someone who doesn't accept the reality of electric cars is even funny.

This 80% FIPE thing is ****, did you see the tiny lines? The car can't run more than 1000km per month, it can't have more than 48.000km driven, that is, for someone who hasn't used the car. I have a BYD, for now I just want to drive it, the more I drive it, the more the car pays for itself. In 6 months of use, I've already saved more than 8k on gas. At this rate, when it's 5 years old, it will have already saved 80k on gas, the car can even be sold for 30k and I'll still be making a profit on it.
