The bill that creates the public company Alada is in the Chamber and aims to contribute to the Brazilian aerospace sector with rocket and satellite launches!

O federal government took an important step towards the future of Brazilian aerospace industry. A bill is currently being processed in the Chamber of Deputies that proposes the creation of a state-owned company focused on the development and launch of rockets and satellites. Named Alada, this new public company, supported by President Lula , will also be responsible for managing the Alcântara Launch Center, in Maranhão, one of the most strategic bases in the world, which has already attracted interest from figures such as Elon Musk , according to Olhar Digital.

Why does Brazil want to invest in the aerospace sector?

The idea of creating a state aerospace is not new. Since the government Dilma RousseffThe Armed forces and the Institutional Security Office (GSI) are studying this possibility. However, one of the major obstacles to the advancement of the project was the dispute with the quilombola communities in the Alcântara region. Squid , when discussing a historic agreement in September with these communities, broke the impasse and made it possible to send the project to Congress.

What is at stake here is the desire to make Brazil a major player in the launch market. satellites e rockets , taking advantage of the strategic location da Alcantara base, which is just 250 km from the equator. This means that rockets launched from this point have a competitive advantage: they use less fuel to enter orbit.

Partnerships with giants like SpaceX?

Here a big question arises: would Brazil be negotiating with international companies, such as SpaceX, Elon Musk ? According to the newspaper Folha de São Paulo, a GSI working group would have mapped out possible interests, including, in addition to SpaceX, Blue Origin, by Jeff Bezos. However, the GSI minister, Marcos Antonio Amaro , publicly negotiated any negotiation with Musk's company.

A Brazilian Air Force (FAB), on the other hand, issued a more vague note, saying that the new state-owned company Alada should “ make state interaction with interested institutions more flexible " at the Alcântara base. In other words, without confirming or denying the rumors, the FAB highlighted that Brazil has a huge competitive advantage with this strategic location.

Alcântara's potential for the global market

But why so much interest in Alcantara base ? Simple: in addition to its privileged location, the region has a well-defined rainy season and favorable weather for most of the year, which makes it the ideal place for launching rockets e satellites . Companies from all over the world could use the local infrastructure to send their space artifacts, which would also bring an important source of revenue to Brazil.

It is worth remembering that the country already has an agreement with the United States, signed in 2019, for the commercial use of the base. In the current scenario, the objective is to increase the frequency of launches and transform Alcântara into a global reference hub. In addition, with the growth in demand for internet satellites, like those of Starlink, the launch market has become much more dynamic and promising.

Alada: the future of Brazilian space technology

The creation of Winged, subsidiary of the state-owned company NAV Brazil, represents a major leap forward for the national aerospace sector. The project still needs to pass through the Chamber's thematic committees, the plenary and then the Senate, but if approved, the new state-owned company will be responsible for putting Brazil on the path to launching rockets e satellites more often.

Therefore, the government Squid is betting big on Alada's potential to consolidate Brazil as a reference in the global aerospace market. With the signing of the agreement with the quilombola communities and the opening of new horizons for international partnerships, Alcântara can finally declare itself as a rocket and satellite launch center of great strategic importance.

Will they create a new job board, a new ministry, a new company, or something like that?
I remember Dilma's “bullet train”. A true failure.

If they approve, the company responsible for the satellites or rockets will bear the expense, not the country. On the contrary, this should bring in billions for the country, in addition to the credit it will have. Again, for me, it's a good move.

Ignore the 'ignorant' or give him reason with a certain discipline, so that he can understand if he reflects. If he has the means, of course.

When Covid appeared, there were no vaccines. As soon as the first experimental vaccines appeared, Anvisa took a long time to approve the purchase because it required testing in the 3rd phase, and none of the existing ones had. Bolsonaro was only able to buy them once Anvisa authorized them. Everyone needed vaccines and only surpluses were released. Brazil did not produce the IFA. Bolsonaro bought 700 million doses.

As long as it doesn't become another hanger for incompetents like so many other state-owned companies, it's a good initiative, but it's hard to believe in these politicians who live off the public machine... Let's see what will happen?
