According to the MEC, the Advanced Course in Orientation and Mobility, Braille and Audio Description Registration is now open and will be offered free of charge and remotely, with vacancies throughout Brazil.
The course's main objective is to develop the skills necessary for public school teachers to implement pedagogical practices aimed at serving students with visual impairments.
The partnership between MEC and UFRGS opens 75 vacancies, exclusively intended for professionals working in basic education in the public network of Rio Grande do Sul.

Details about vacancies and workload
The course has a total workload of 180 hours, divided equally between theory and practice. In-person classes will take place on Fridays and Saturdays, at the UFRGS School of Education, located in Porto Alegre.
Practical activities include modules such as Orientation and Mobility, audio description e Braille system, covering both writing and reading in Braille.
According to the notice available, classes will be held between October 18th and December 14th, 2024, always on Fridays (18pm to 22pm) and Saturdays (8am to 18pm).
This division was planned to allow teachers to reconcile the course with their regular school activities.
Target audience and distribution of vacancies
The main target audience are public school teachers, with priority given to those working in basic education. The division of vacancies follows the following criteria:
- 20 vacancies for teachers of Childhood education;
- 20 vacancies for teachers of Elementary School I;
- 20 vacancies for teachers of Elementary School II;
- 15 vacancies for teachers of High school.
Places are limited and, according to the MEC, the selection will be carried out by registration order. Only one teacher per institution will be selected, but if the vacancies are not filled, more than one professional per school may be accepted, respecting the order in which the form is submitted.
