Some unconfirmed reports claim that the site stored components and fuel for Chinese missiles.
Immediate reaction and emergency measures
The region's governor, Mohammad Ashouri Taziani, said the injured were taken to medical centers in Bandar Abbas.
He said the fire had been brought under control. Port operations have been suspended and the site remains closed to new activities, according to state media.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered an investigation into the cause of the crash. In a post on the network X, reported that the Minister of the Interior was sent to the region to closely monitor the situation.
Preliminary investigations indicate chemical storage
According to the state broadcaster IRIB, the explosion occurred in the area designated for the storage of chemical products and sulfur.
Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said the containers were likely filled with chemicals. However, she stressed that only after the fire was completely extinguished would it be possible to determine the exact cause.
