“Minas Gerais has become a very promising market for those who want to work with distributed energy today, because we are a competitive state, we have a good solar index in the North, and companies in the crisis are starting to look for alternatives to reduce costs”, says the governor.

According to Zema, “The generation of solar energy has been a good alternative (for companies), so there is this effect that ends up helping with investment”.

Generation of nearly five thousand jobs in Minas Gerais

The crisis caused by the new coronavirus has already caused Minas Gerais to lose 88 jobs. The highest unemployment rate was registered in the North region of the state.

With the 5,6 billion reais invested in the state, the government expects that around 5 new jobs will be created in Minas Gerais

Aurora Energias is one of the companies responsible for one of the main projects in Minas Gerais, having a solar plant with an installed capacity of 700MW. The operation of the structure is expected to start in the first half of 2023.

According to Fernando Passalio, deputy secretary of the Secretariat of Economic Development, more than 50 private sector projects will be implemented throughout the state of Minas Gerais

In addition to the R$5,6 billion already guaranteed, Minas Gerais expects this amount to reach R$9 billion by the end of 2020 – the number corresponds to initiatives that have already had their projects signed and are planned to be implemented throughout the year .

Among the projects is the inauguration of a Petrópolis Group factory in Uberaba, in the Triângulo Mineiro, with an injection of 700 million reais. With the new venture, the expectation is that 400 new jobs will be created in the region.
