The long-awaited new Chevrolet Equinox EV has landed in Brazil and is already causing a stir due to its entry price of R$419.000. With 292 horsepower and a range of 443 km, Chevrolet's electric SUV is set to compete with heavyweight models such as the Volvo C40 and BMW iX3. But does the price justify the investment? CPG spoke to expert João Del Arco, who gave his first impressions and details about the vehicle's performance.
When beginning his analysis, João Del Arco did not fail to comment on the impact of the high price. According to him, the New Chevrolet Equinox EV could compete more aggressively if it had a value in the range of R$349.000, which would put it in a more advantageous position compared to its competitors. The price of R$419.000 makes the choice difficult for those already considering other options such as Volvo C40, which offers more power at a lower cost.
“For that price, the New Chevrolet Equinox EV finds itself in a tricky position“, said Del Arco, highlighting that, despite its qualities, it is difficult to recommend the car to anyone looking for the best value for money.
Performance of the new Chevrolet Equinox EV: it's fast, but what about comfort?
The new Chevrolet Equinox EV doesn't disappoint in performance. With 292 horsepower and 46 kgfm of torque, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5,8 secondss. The SUV is equipped with a Chevrolet engine on both axles, offering all-wheel drive and a smooth ride even in the most adverse conditions. Del Arco highlighted that the model, despite being robust, has a suspension that is surprisingly smooth, providing above-average comfort.

What caught the eye was the comparison with the Blazer EV, also from Chevrolet. According to Del Arco, the new Chevrolet Equinox EV behaves more docilely and is more enjoyable to drive, even though it is a more compact car than the Blazer.
Autonomy and recharge: reasonable time, but not the best in the category
With a 85 kWh battery, the The new Chevrolet Equinox EV promises a range of up to 443 km on a single charge, which is a positive point. However, charging time can be a limiting factor. With fast chargers, charging from 0 to 80% takes about 43 minutes, which is within expectations for the category, but does not stand out compared to direct competitors.
Equipment and technology: missing a touch of sophistication
The interior of the new Chevrolet Equinox EV has some disappointing features, considering the price. Despite having a 17-inch multimedia center and an 11-inch dashboard, items such as the lack of lighting in the glove compartment and the simplistic finish in some areas do not match the asking price. The sound system is not branded, which would be expected in a car that competes directly with models from Volvo and BMW.
On the other hand, the model brings technological innovations such as Google Native, a Wi-Fi router with up to 4 years free and over-the-air software updates. These are interesting features, but they do not fully justify the price.
Worth it?
The big question remains: Is the new Chevrolet Equinox EV worth the R$419.000 investment? Despite being an electric SUV with solid performance and cutting-edge technology, it ends up losing out on price. For those willing to invest this amount, models like the Volvo C40 or even the BMW iX3 may be more attractive options, offering more for less.
Now, we want to know your opinion: would you pay R$419.000 for the new Chevrolet Equinox EV? Or do you think the price is too high for what the car offers? Leave your comment!
Very good price car.
