The arrival of a new Chinese company in Brazil could generate 500 new jobs and boost the smartphone sector. Realme joins famous brands already popular here such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Vivo, which will arrive soon.

Realme, one of the fastest growing smartphone manufacturers in the world, officially announced this Wednesday (23) the opening of the brand's first factory in Latin America, located in Manaus (AM). The new unit will have the capacity to produce up to 20 thousand cell phones per day, in partnership with the manufacturer Digitron, and should generate 500 direct and indirect jobs in the region. The move marks the definitive entry of Chinese company Realme in Brazil with local production, reinforcing its growth and competitiveness strategy in a market dominated by giants such as Samsung and Apple.

Cell phone factory in Manaus should boost national industry

The new mobile phone factory in Manaus represents a strategic step by Realme to reduce operating costs, increase product offerings in Brazil and consolidate itself as a reference brand in the intermediate and premium smartphone segment.

Local production will also allow greater logistical agility and could generate positive impacts on the electronics production chain in the Manaus Free Trade Zone, as the operation has the support of Digitron, an assembler with experience in partnerships with brands such as Asus, Acer and Intel.

Realme bets on the 14 series to conquer the Brazilian market

The launch of the Realme 14 line, with the 14 Pro+ model as the highlight, is at the heart of the company's strategy. The smartphone features cameras with artificial intelligence, digital zoom of up to 120x and a Snapdragon processor, in addition to the updated Android operating system. Prices for the new line range from R$2.799 to R$4.799, positioning the products in direct competition with devices from Xiaomi and Samsung.

With this portfolio, the Chinese company Realme hopes to serve an audience that seeks high performance at a competitive price, especially targeting young people and consumers connected with cutting-edge technology, photography and games.

Jobs at electronics factory are the highlight of the initiative

The opening of Realme's industrial unit in Amazonas foresees the creation of 500 jobs in electronics factory, between direct and indirect positions. Direct jobs must be filled by professionals from the local industry, while indirect jobs involve transportation, logistics, food, maintenance and security services.

The expectation is that, with the expansion of activities and the consolidation of the brand in the country, new vacancies will be opened and the operation will gain scale in the coming months, following the demand for smartphones in the Brazilian market.

Realme wants to compete with Samsung and Apple in Brazil

Realme's arrival in Brazil with domestic production takes place in a competitive scenario. South Korean Samsung, the country's sales leader, was the company that received the most tax incentives from the Manaus Free Trade Zone in 2024, with a waiver of approximately R$1 billion, according to data from the Federal Revenue Service.

Despite this, there is no confirmation as to whether Realme will have access to the same tax benefits, which will depend on the formalization of its inclusion in the incentive programs provided by the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa).

Even without confirmed exemption, the company's strategy is clear: produce locally to reduce import taxes and gain a competitive edge over already established brands.

Realme expands presence in Latin America

With the new unit in Manaus, Realme strengthens its commitment to the Latin American market. Before the factory, the company had already registered steady growth in sales in countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Chile, with aggressive marketing campaigns and a focus on young audiences.

Brazil, with one of the largest smartphone consumer bases in the world, now becomes the brand distribution center for all of Latin America, which should facilitate regional expansion and the installation of new sales channels.

Partnership with Digitron enables large-scale production

The manufacturing operation will be carried out in conjunction with the Digitron, a Brazilian company that has been operating in the electronics sector for over 30 years. The partnership guarantees technical know-how, already installed infrastructure and agility in production, especially at a time when logistical deadlines and the availability of inputs continue to be global challenges.

Digitron also already has relationships with other prominent brands, which indicates industry confidence in the company's industrial practices and reduces the time required for Realme to achieve production stability.

Factory in Manaus should impact distribution and final price

In addition to generating jobs and stimulating the local economy, production of Realme smartphones in the national territory should result in competitive advantages in the final price to the consumer. Without the tax burden of imported products, the devices can be offered at more affordable prices, expanding the brand's reach.

Furthermore, the presence of the unit in the Manaus Industrial Hub allows easy access to electronic components and logistics centers, which can reduce replenishment time in stores and avoid supply problems.
