3tentos takes out a R$500 million loan from BNDES to implement an ethanol plant in Mato Grosso and accelerate its expansion in the agricultural sector.
3tentos, a company focused on the biofuels and agroindustry sector, has obtained a major R$500 million loan from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The funds will be used to build a new ethanol plant in the municipality of Porto Alegre do Norte, in Mato Grosso, a region known for its strong vocation for agriculture. The implementation of the ethanol plant is part of a major expansion plan by 3tentos, which aims to increase its operations and production in the coming years.
Ethanol plant: the crucial role of the BNDES loan in the growth of 3tentos
3tentos had already announced that the construction of the plant of ethanol would be one of the pillars of its growth, with the new unit expected to begin operating in 2026.
With the R$500 million loan from BNDES, the company will continue its investment strategy.

The plant will be designed to produce 935 thousand liters of ethanol per day, in addition to 587 tons of DDG (corn bran) and 37 tons of corn oil daily.
This ethanol plant project is a milestone in the growth of 3tentos, as the company plans to invest R$2 billion over the next few years, with a significant portion of this amount going towards the construction of the new unit.
The BNDES financing, with a term of 180 months and a grace period of two years, guarantees 3tentos the continuity of the ethanol plant project, strengthening its operations in Brazil.
The company committed to guaranteeing the loan by offering properties and guarantees from top-tier financial institutions.
The choice of Mato Grosso for the construction of the plant is strategic, as the region offers ideal conditions for agricultural production, especially corn, an essential raw material for ethanol.
3tentos investments and expansion with a focus on ethanol plants
Besides the investment from BNDES, 3tentos plans to further expand its operations. The plan includes not only the construction of the plant, but also the investment of R$480 million to expand its existing activities and another R$280 million to expand its network of stores.
With these investments, 3tentos aims to consolidate itself as one of the main players in the biofuels sector, with 100 units planned by 2030.
The construction of the ethanol plant is just one of several initiatives by 3tentos, which will also invest R$200 million in the Mirituba Terminal, in partnership with Caramuru.
This terminal, which will be operated by a joint venture, will be essential for the flow of products derived from the new unit and other areas of the company.
BNDES and support for the power plant sector in Brazil
The financing of plant 3tentos' ethanol production is not an isolated case. BNDES has shown itself increasingly willing to support the biofuels sector in Brazil, with an emphasis on ethanol plants.
The bank also recently released R$500 million for the construction of a corn ethanol plant in partnership with the Coamo cooperative in Paraná. In addition, other units, such as Alvorada Bioenergia and Be8, also received funds from BNDES.
These investments in new units are part of BNDES' strategy to encourage the biofuels sector in Brazil, promoting the use of cleaner and more sustainable energy.
The construction of corn and wheat ethanol plants has gained prominence, as these alternative sources of ethanol are seen as more sustainable and efficient in the production process.
