Tired of automated calls that drop without anyone saying anything? Learn how to block and identify these nuisances!

If you have ever answered a call that simply dropped without anyone answering, you were a victim of the calls dumb ou robocalls. These automated calls are made by robots that trigger mass connections — often disconnected before a voice even comes through. The goal? Reduce idle time for agents or validate phone numbers for future telemarketing campaigns.

Since 2024, however, the Anatel classified these practices as abusive when the calls lasted less than six seconds. But how do you get rid of these calls?

How to avoid robocalls: practical tools

1. Do not disturb

Anatel's official platform is one of the main weapons against abusive telemarketing. Check out how to register:

  • Visit nanomeperturbe.com.br;
  • Create a free account;
  • Register your number with area code;
  • Select the companies you want to unlock;
  • Confirm the request and wait for the validation SMS.

The block will come into effect within 30 days. Simple and effective!

2. Which company called me?

Another useful option is the website Which Company Called Me. With it, you can quickly identify who is behind that insistent number:

  • Access the website;
  • Enter unknown number;
  • Confirm that you are not a robot;
  • See the information of the company that called.

No registration required!

Limitations and new rules

While “Do Not Disturb” helps a lot, malicious companies can still bypass the system using international calls via VoIP (voice over IP) or fake numbers.

To reinforce protection, the Anatel launched in 2024 a system that requires operators to report the origin of suspicious calls. Collecting this data helps identify scams and abuse.

The do not disturb system is a joke. I have been registered with Procon for years and I continue to receive robocalls. Millions of other people do too. Anatel is complicit with companies that circumvent the “systems”. Anatel actually defends the operators, and the user has no one to turn to, that is the truth.
