Norwegian multinational Golar Power is in the final stages of installing the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in SC

The Norwegian multinational Golar Power sent on Friday the necessary documentation to obtain the Environmental Installation License for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Institute of the Environment (IMA) of Santa Catarina -SC. The terminal will be installed in Babitonga Bay, in the municipality of São Francisco do Sul (SC).

SC will have 25 years ahead of it with Golar Power

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal will be fully operated by Golar Power and will provide a 25-year FSRU to fuel the project. SC's liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal is expected to come into commercial operation in mid-2022 and is located at a strategic entry point in the southern region of Brazil, which will be used as a hub to enable the distribution of LNG and the supply of natural gas for electricity generation, commercial and industrial customers, transportation and supply well before the start of the power project. FSRU selection and terminal detailing is ongoing with an expected FID in 2021.

Investment by Golar Power

To make it possible to create the new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal for Golar Power in Santa Catarina – SC, more than 100 million dollars will be invested, equivalent to R$ 541.752,25 million.

 With this amount invested and after the works begin, part of Gasbol's gas supply capacity will be used for distribution, and another part will be distributed through small-scale isocontainers, in addition to the expected supply for the thermoelectric plant.
