Petrobras announced the resumption of operations at Araucária Nitrogenados SA (ANSA), a fertilizer factory in Paraná, after hibernation since 2020. Last Thursday, (6/06), Petrobras announced a strategic decision that promises to boost not only the local economy, but also the national fertilizer production. After a period of hibernation since 2020, the fertilizer factory Araucária Nitrogenados SA (ANSA), located in Paraná, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, is about to resume operations.

Petrobras announces return of fertilizer factory in Paraná
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Petrobras Executive Board held on Thursday (6/06).

Among the immediate measures is the publication of notices for contracting maintenance services and critical materials, highlighting the company's commitment to ensuring the efficiency and safety of operations.
Hiring former employees
Furthermore, Petrobras authorized ANSA to enter into agreements and hire former employees, as long as they were approved by the Superior Labor Court (TST).
This measure not only saves jobs, but also recognizes the experience and knowledge of professionals who have already been involved with the factory.
The return of the Petrobras fertilizer factory
The operation is expected to restart in the second half of 2025, representing a significant milestone for the industry of fertilizers in the country.
With the review of Petrobras' strategic guidelines, investment in fertilizer production was once again part of the company's portfolio, in accordance with the Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028+.

ANSA prepares to resume operations with impressive production capacity
Located next to the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery — REPAR, ANSA has an impressive production capacity, with 720 thousand tons/year of urea and 475 thousand tons/year of ammonia, in addition to 450 thousand m³/year of Automotive Liquid Reducing Agent ( ARLA 32).
