It is estimated that more than 500 jobs will be created by Petrobras' onshore production initiative, impacting the entire state of Bahia.
Petrobras has just signed large-scale contracts with EBS and Conterp, aiming to expand onshore oil and gas production in the state of Bahia. The investment, of approximately R$707 million, should generate hundreds of jobs in the region.
The new contracts aim to drill deep onshore wells, further consolidating Petrobras' presence.
Expansion of onshore operations in Bahia
The state of Bahia has proven to be a strategic point for Petrobras' onshore operations, which is already one of the largest oil and gas producers in Brazil.

The company recently signed two contracts with service providers EBS and Conterp, which will be responsible for drilling new wells and expanding operations in onshore fields located in the region.
The total value of the contracts is approximately R$707 million, a significant investment for the company, which aims to increase its production and expand its resource exploration capacity in Bahia.
These new contracts represent an important part of Petrobras' strategy to strengthen its activities in the onshore oil exploration sector, especially in onshore fields.
Hiring of new rigs and impact on job creation
With the new contracts, the contracted drilling rigs will be part of a land drilling campaign scheduled for the period from September 2025 to June 2029.
During this period, the projects should generate around 530 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to local development and creating opportunities for professionals in the Bahia region.
Furthermore, an important aspect of the contracts is the commitment to local content.
The contracted companies, EBS and Conterp, undertake to carry out up to 65% of the activities using services and materials from Brazilian suppliers, which further strengthens the local economy and increases the generation of jobs in Bahia.
EBS Perfurações will be responsible for drilling wells with depths of up to 5 thousand meters, while Conterp will work on drilling wells with depths of up to 4 thousand meters.
Both companies have extensive experience in performing this type of service, which guarantees the quality and efficiency of drilling operations, which are fundamental to the successful expansion of Petrobras' onshore production in the region.
An important step for the future of Petrobras in Bahia
This investment by Petrobras is a reflection of the company's growing interest in strengthening its onshore operations, a segment that, although not the most talked about, represents a vital part of the oil and gas exploration and production strategy in Brazil.
In addition to the direct economic impact, with the generation of new jobs and the development of local suppliers, the expansion of operations in onshore fields also aims to increase Petrobras' oil and gas production, helping the company to remain competitive in the global energy market.
Long-term impacts on Bahia's economy
By creating 530 direct and indirect jobs and investing in local infrastructure, Petrobras is also contributing to the strengthening of Bahia’s economy. The company’s presence in the state not only boosts the oil and gas market, but also generates a series of indirect benefits for other sectors, such as services, logistics and maintenance.
With the drilling of new wells and the increase in onshore oil and gas production, Petrobras ensures its active participation in the process of exploring natural resources in Brazil, reinforcing the importance of the energy industry for the country's economic growth and development.
