Petrobras-Norway Partnership: Towards sustainable energy transition in the Amazon

Norway has been a notable example of a just energy transition, adopting practices that leave no one behind. The Scandinavian country invested in workforce training, reinventing companies and transforming obsolete businesses into modern enterprises. It has become a global leader in clean and efficient technologies. The Norwegian vision offers valuable inspiration for Brazil on the path towards energy sustainability.

Jean Paul Prates also highlighted the Norway's participation in the Amazon Fund, which is co-invested by Germany, highlighting that the Equatorial Margin region could benefit even more if there were legislative changes that would allow contributions related to oil and gas production. This strategic collaboration aims to not only develop the region responsibly, but also reinforce the Amazon Fund, which plays a crucial role in protecting the world's largest rainforest.

Scandinavian country is Petrobras' fifth largest partner in 2022

The partnership between Petrobras and Norway is constantly growing, with Norway becoming Petrobras' fifth largest partner in 2022, with contracts worth R$8,6 billion, together with existing contracts totaling R$18,7 billion. This demonstrates the business potential between the two nations, covering categories such as vessel chartering, offshore logistics, subsea equipment and services, seismic, geophysical services, accommodation vessels, security and transportation.

Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anniken Huitfeldt, emphasized Petrobras' critical role in the energy transition, and met with the company's president, Jean Paul Prates, and Petrobras' director of Energy Transition and Sustainability, Maurício Tolmasquim, to discuss joint initiatives. The presence of the Norwegian ambassador in Brazil, Odd Magne Ruud, highlights the importance of this partnership for both nations.

The partnership between Petrobras and Norway is an alliance that not only strengthens the economy, but also promotes sustainability and protection of the Amazon, one of the most valuable natural treasures in Brazil. As both nations seek innovative solutions in the energy transition, the future looks brighter and more hopeful. Together, they are ready to face the ecological and energy challenges of the XNUMXst century, with the vision of a more sustainable world in mind.
