Petrobras has just taken a blockbuster step in the energy sector! The Brazilian giant began production on the Duque de Caxias platform vessel in the Mero field, located in the coveted pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, this Wednesday. With this, Petrobras further consolidates its prominent position, putting into operation a unit with impressive production capacity and promising to revolutionize the company's numbers.

According to an official statement from Petrobras, the Duque de Caxias platform vessel is an FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading unit) that has the capacity to extract up to 180 barrels of oil per day. In addition, it can compress up to 12 million cubic meters of gas daily, reinforcing the state-owned company's energy production. This advance marks the entry into operation of Mero's fourth production system and is the result of a partnership with MISC, the company responsible for chartering the platform vessel.

With this addition, the installed production capacity in the Mero field increased significantly: from 410 to 590 barrels of oil per day. This increase not only represents a strategic advance for Petrobras, but also highlights the potential of the Mero field in the pre-salt layer, which has been consolidating itself as one of the most promising areas for oil and gas exploration in Brazil.

Petrobras in the energy market

The Duque de Caxias platform vessel is not only a technical achievement, but also symbolizes Petrobras' strength in the energy market, especially in the pre-salt layer. company sees this operation as a milestone in expanding infrastructure and production capacity, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and efficient energy development.

This new chapter in the exploration of the Mero field should bring positive impacts not only for Petrobras, but also for the Brazilian energy market, consolidating the importance of pre-salt as one of the country's main economic drivers.

Duque de Caxias Platform is the answer

In a scenario where the demand for clean and efficient energy grows every day, production in the Mero field with the Duque de Caxias platform emerges as a strategic and important response.

In the coming months, Petrobras must continue to monitor production and leveraging the resources of the Santos Basin, one of the largest oil and gas reservoirs in the world.
