Petrobras announces 1.780 new hires in 2025 to boost investments. Lula's government is betting on the state-owned company as the driving force of the economy.

Petrobras will hire 1.780 employees in 2025, increasing investments and expanding its workforce. The Lula government wants to transform the state-owned company into a key player in the national economy.

Petrobras announced a major increase in its workforce for 2025, consolidating a strategic move that could directly impact the national economy.

The decision reflects a new guideline from the state-owned company, aimed at resuming investments and expanding operations in various sectors.

Second statement released this Thursday (30), Petrobras will hire 1.780 new employees throughout 2025 with 700 professionals already called in the first half of the year.

The calls began on Wednesday (29) and are part of a selection process already carried out, which included candidates for technical level positions.

This new contingent will be added to the approximately 1.000 employees recalled throughout 2024, reinforcing the need to expand the state-owned company's staff to meet the demands of the federal government.

The president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, highlighted that the expansion of staff plays a fundamental role in the company's strategy for the coming years.

“I am certain that these employees hired throughout 2025 will be essential for new investment projects that we will develop in different areas of Petrobras. We are committed to the growth of the company and the development of the country,” said Chambriard.

Hiring focus and impact on the job market

Most of the new hires will be assigned to the areas of Industrial and Exploration and Production Processes, sectors essential to the company's plans.

The selection process also provides for quotas of 20% for people with disabilities and 20% for black people, reinforcing the commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workforce.

This move represents a shift in Petrobras' personnel policy. During previous administrations, the company adopted voluntary redundancy programs and drastically reduced the number of employees, focusing on asset sales and oil exploration in highly profitable areas.

Petrobras policy reversal under Lula government

Since taking over command of Petrobras in May 2024, Magda Chambriard has followed the guidance of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to strengthen the state's presence in the national economy.

The government has encouraged the expansion of the company's investments, which is directly reflected in the increase in the number of employees.

“The hiring meets Petrobras’ needs at a time of resumption and expansion of investments in several regions of the country, with commitment to Brazil as one of its values,” the company highlighted.

Additionally, we bring Lula has already indicated that his next trip will be to inaugurate Petrobras investments, reinforcing the strategic importance of the state-owned company for the federal government.

Sustainable growth or financial challenge?

The big question that arises with this expansion is whether Petrobras will be able to maintain sustainable growth without compromising its finances.

The state-owned company has faced difficult times in the past, including corruption scandals and financial problems that led it to drastically reduce its staff.

Now, with this new expansion strategy, the question remains: will it be a long-term movement or just a momentary response to government policies?

The impact on the oil and gas sector

The oil and gas sector is one of the most strategic for Brazil, directly impacting the economy, job creation and technological development.

Petrobras' decision to expand its workforce could influence other companies in the sector to adopt similar policies, further boosting the market.

However, this expansion comes with challenges, such as the need to maintain competitiveness and operational efficiency.

What to expect from the future of Petrobras?

The increase in staff could signal a new cycle of growth for Petrobras, but it also raises questions about the challenges the company will face in the coming years.

How will this expansion impact the fuel market and the national economy? Will the state-owned company be able to maintain this policy of expanding investments in the long term? Leave your opinion in the comments!
