Petrobras invests R$130 billion in the Campos Basin, promises 25 thousand jobs and bets on Macaé as a world energy center.

Petrobras has announced a billion-dollar plan that promises to transform Macaé into the largest energy reference in Brazil. With an investment of R$130 billion, the state-owned company will create 25 jobs!

Macaé, known as the “Energy Capital” of Brazil, is about to undergo a historic transformation.

In a landmark event celebrating 50 years since the first discovery of oil in the Campos Basin, Petrobras revealed a bold plan that promises to change the lives of thousands of Brazilians.

The announcement caused a stir and hope: an investment of 22 billion dollars, equivalent to R$130 billion, to revitalize production in the region.

The promised investment and jobs

The Campos Basin, one of Brazil's main oil production hubs, will be Petrobras' main focus in the coming years.

The company plans to invest this billion-dollar amount in initiatives that include revitalizing wells, new exploration fronts and the decommissioning of old platforms.

As announced, the project will generate approximately 25 thousand new jobs by 2028, with opportunities for both experienced workers and those looking for their first job.

According to the City of Macaé, the impact will not only be economic.

The municipal administration is working to ensure that these new positions are accessible to the local population, especially by relaxing experience requirements.

“It is possible to ensure that this requirement is reversed, allowing many people to return to the job market and creating opportunities for young people looking for their first job,” declared Mayor Welberth Rezende.

Strategic plan for Macaé

Petrobras also aims to strengthen Macaé as Brazil's main energy operations hub.
Sylvia Maria Couto dos Anjos, executive director of exploration and production at the state-owned company, reinforced the company's commitment to the city.

She highlighted that the Campos Basin will continue to be a strategic pillar in deepwater operations, ensuring the state-owned company's competitiveness in the global market.

Alex Murteira, general manager of the Campos Basin Business Unit, commented on the promising future of the region: “We have a thriving present and a promising future. Together, we will write a new page of success for the Campos Basin.”

Flexible hiring

One of the most innovative aspects of this project is the opening of vacancies for workers without proven experience.

This strategy is the result of a partnership between Petrobras and the City of Macaé, which seeks to align market demands with local professional qualifications.

The city government has promoted training courses specifically aimed at the state-owned company's demands, preparing thousands of residents for new opportunities.

As announced on the Macaé City Hall website, the objective is to ensure that local professionals fill the majority of available positions.

This includes workers who have recently graduated from qualification courses and who previously faced difficulties entering the market due to a lack of experience.

Celebrations and reflections on the future

The event that marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Campos Basin also paid tribute to the pioneers of the oil industry in the region.

Among the names highlighted was Alfeu Valença, former president of Petrobras, who received tributes for his contribution to the development of the sector.

Petrobras President Magda Chambriard emphasized the importance of innovation and research for the future of oil exploration in Brazil.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us and, certainly, with everyone’s collaboration, we will build a more successful future for Petrobras, for the State and for Brazil,” said Chambriard.

Impacts on the economy and the energy sector

Over the next five years, Petrobras plans to intensify its operations in Campos Basin, focusing on deepwater exploration.

These projects should not only boost oil and gas production, but also consolidate Macaé as a global reference in the energy sector.

The city, therefore, will not only be the center of the country's energy development, but also the engine of an economic revolution that promises to transform the lives of thousands of Brazilians.

In my opinion, this is a very important initiative because everyone needs to eat their food in a well-developed way. When workers have a job and income, they feel more confident in their financial situation. And when this emphasis is placed on the worker's life, they become happier and more in a better mood. And the most important thing is financial independence when money is used wisely. One observation: Brazil needs development in all regions. And it is on the right track; it just needs to improve this practice even more in all productive sectors of the nation.

And the city government of Macaé can't build a decent bus station. This city is a disgrace... millions in royalties and zero infrastructure for those who come to work here. Even the taxis that are at the bus station in this city are scrapped.

There are a few hundred thousand more municipalities to go and complain to, good luck.
