The Port of Long Beach hosts 2 events to provide and gather information for the Pier Wind environmental review, involving stakeholders.
The Port of Long Beach, California, is hosting two events to gather information and share data for the upcoming environmental review of Pier Wind, a proposed 400-acre terminal intended to facilitate the assembly and deployment of offshore wind turbines. If approved, the Pier Wind project will be the largest installation of its kind on the U.S. West Coast, demonstrating California's commitment to meeting its goals predominantly renewable energy.
As part of the effort to achieve its goals, the state of California has set the ambitious goal of generating at least 5 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind energy by 2030. Industry stakeholders are focusing their efforts on building a network of port facilities to manufacture, store, prepare, install and maintain offshore wind turbines, also aiming to serve as hubs for maritime support services to meet growing demand. The Port of Long Beach will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of this important infrastructure.
Port of Long Beach Scoping Meeting
Both events will begin with an open house, where port staff will be available to answer questions and share information about the Pier Wind. Afterward, a scoping meeting will provide an overview of the proposed project and an explanation of the environmental review process.
