A revolution in the Pará labor market
According to official data from the Pará government, around 40 thousand jobs were generated directly or indirectly through ambitious projects throughout the state.
Opportunities arise from several fronts, driven by departments such as Public Works (Seop), Infrastructure and Logistics (Seinfra), and the Metropolitan Transport Management Center (NGTM).
Among the most demanded functions are those linked to civil construction and urban infrastructure, such as asphalting, paving and drainage works.
Between 2023 and 2024 alone, Seop was responsible for hiring approximately 37,5 thousand professionals to work on large projects, including paving roads and the construction of the Augusto Montenegro Emergency Room, in addition to the first Public Women's Hospital in the North of the country.
Impacts of the works in Belém and the preparation for COP 30
In Belém, the host city of the future COP 30, infrastructure works are already having a direct impact on the lives of residents.
According to Agência Brasil, the secretary of Seop, Ruy Cabral, highlighted that the Government of Pará seeks a balance between structural improvements and the generation of new jobs.
“These works improve the quality of life of the population and promise to create even more jobs when we reach the peak of the works for COP 30”, stated Cabral, reinforcing that these improvements bring an important legacy to the capital of Pará.

For those working on construction sites, the impact goes beyond the simple financial issue.
Worker Cleidson Júnior, who works on the macro-drainage of a canal, said he felt fulfilled for being part of this transformation:

The delivery of the channel will represent a huge change for the community, which has been waiting for these improvements for years.
Projects and vacancies under the management of Seinfra
In addition to Seop projects, the Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinfra) also invests in important works, which involve thousands of workers.
In Belém, Seinfra currently employs more than 1.000 workers in Parque da Cidade, a project that promises to be one of the great legacies for COP 30.
In addition, others 400 professionals work at Porto Futuro II, a project that employs exclusively Pará-based labor.
Another important milestone is the construction of the bridge over the Maguari River, which will connect Belém to Ananindeua, with around 200 people directly involved.
This project aims not only to improve urban mobility, but also to create new job opportunities in the region.
Avenida Liberdade: the new access corridor to the capital
Seinfra is also responsible for the ambitious work of Liberty Avenue, which will connect the Alça Viária to the Perimetral.
This project, in addition to generating around 800 direct jobs, will include two lanes of traffic in each direction, shoulders and an exclusive lane for cyclists.
With solar-powered lighting and ecological paving, the 13,3-kilometer avenue promises to be not only an alternative access route, but also a model of sustainable infrastructure.
Investments in urban mobility by NGTM
The Metropolitan Transport Management Center (NGTM) also contributes to urban improvements in Belém.
Among the works carried out is the Father Bruno Sechi Avenue, which generated approximately 1.000 jobs.
Delivered in February 2022, this 4,2-kilometer road connects Avenida Centenário to the Tapanã highway, in the Bengui neighborhood, facilitating the daily commute of thousands of people from Pará.
According to NGTM, the work includes drainage, paving, construction of accessible sidewalks, cycle lanes and public lighting.
