Duties of the single port worker

Do you have enough information about who are and what do the workers of individual ports? These are professionals who perform multiple tasks and carry out various activities within ports. Below is a list of attributions of the position in this competition, carried out by the reporter Diná Sanchotene in the news portal A Gazeta:

  • Movement of goods in the facilities within the port, which includes receiving, checking, internal transport, opening volumes for customs verification, handling, preparation and delivery, as well as loading and unloading of vessels;
  • Movement of goods in the holds or on the decks of the most important or auxiliary vessels, as well as transhipment, preparation, lashing and unloading;
  • Counting cargo volumes, noting their characteristics, origin or destination, checking the condition of goods, assisting with weighing, checking the manifest and other work related to loading and unloading operations at ports;
  • Restoration and repair of damaged packaging, repackaging, marking, stamping, labeling;
  • Inspection of the entry and exit of people on board vessels stopped in the port, as well as the movement of goods in the portals, ramps, holds, decks, platforms and elsewhere on the vessel.

In addition, another characteristic of the position offered by the Espírito Santo contest is that the salary of port professionals is not always the same, since it varies according to the values estimated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT), referring to a 6-hour day. According to the table, workers receive between R$ 259,65 to R$ 406,14 daily. Another important point is that remuneration will be given in two ways: according to the productivity achieved, or per day salary in situations of attendance, effective escalation and when the value of production does not reach the minimum amount.

Regarding remuneration, Ivone comments: “The prospects for earnings compensate for the numerous assignments, as the multifunctional single port worker – registered, if there is demand – and there always is – can, initially, earn more than R$ 5 thousand a month and, later on, reach earnings that exceed BRL 15 a month.”

As for the selection process, objective tests will be applied on March 13, with content in Portuguese, Mathematics, English and IT. There will also be a Physical Aptitude Test, psychological assessment, medical examination and training course for two months.

Employment after the competition

After approval in all phases of the competition, the candidate will be registered at Ogmo as a temporary port worker and will be called to work at the Port in Vitória or Aracruz, both in Espírito Santo. As there is a legal regime specific to employees in this position, they do not have an employment relationship.
