Appian and Detronic companies join forces to boost renewable energy in Minas Gerais through the construction of 20 solar plants
The British investment fund specializing in mining, Appian Capital Advisory LLP, and Detronic Energia, a Brazilian hub for renewable energy solutions, announced a strategic partnership to develop a portfolio of 20 solar parks in Minas Gerais. This collaboration represents an important milestone for Appian, as it marks its entry into the renewable energy segment and strengthens its presence in the Brazilian market, according to the Br Finance website.
The partnership between Appian and Detronic aims to boost the development of solar energy in Minas Gerais, a state known for its energy potential and its relevance in the mining sector in Brazil. Through this collaboration, Appian Capital Brazil, the London-based business unit of Appian Capital Advisory, seeks to expand its operations into the renewable energy sector, in line with its business strategy and its commitment to sustainability.
The objective of this partnership is to develop a portfolio of 20 solar parks in Minas Gerais, which will contribute to increasing the renewable energy generation capacity in the state. These power plants will play a key role in providing renewable energy to residential consumers, strengthening the regulated market and taking advantage of tax incentives and the excellent solar irradiation offered by Minas Gerais.

Minas Gerais: Reference in renewable energy generation
Minas Gerais is recognized as one of the main markets for distributed generation of solar energy in Brazil, with an installed energy capacity of 2,5 GWp. The partnership between Appian and Detronic will allow solar energy to become an even more accessible and advantageous option for Minas Gerais consumers, enabling savings of up to 15% to 20% on their energy bills and developing the use of renewable energy.
The construction of 20 solar plants in Minas Gerais is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. In addition to the environmental benefits, this partnership will also bring positive economic impacts, reducing Appian's exposure to future energy price increases in its operations in the country. The initiative reinforces Appian's commitment to expanding its expertise in renewable energy, contributing to the decarbonisation of the sector and promoting a more sustainable future.

Detronic Energia, recognized for its experience in the renewable energy sector, will exercise a fundamental role in the construction of solar plants in Minas Gerais. With 34 solar plants recently built and another 47 under construction, the company is committed to replacing the annual emission of 6.263 tons of CO2 through its activities and developing the use of renewable energy.
