Continuous growth in the Fluminense industry

Industry in the State of Rio de Janeiro maintains an impressive sequence of job creation, recording growth for the tenth consecutive month. In October, Rio de Janeiro's industrial sector added 1.761 new jobs, covering both extractive and manufacturing industries. According to Sérgio Duarte, president of Rio Indústria, the year 2023 witnessed the creation of 13.576 industrial jobs in the state, accompanying an increase in industrial production of 4,4% until September. This data, released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment through CAGED, was analyzed by economic consultant William Figueiredo, from Future Tank, in partnership with Associação Rio Indústria.

Significant advancement in transformation industries

In the Manufacturing Industry segment, October was a successful month with the creation of 1.491 jobs, spread across 24 manufacturing activities. This result represents the fourth consecutive month of positive growth, exceeding by 28% the balance recorded in the same period of the previous year. Until October, the state's Manufacturing Industries generated a total of 9.620 jobs, placing Rio de Janeiro in seventh place in job creation in Brazil, within the Southeast region. The state surpassed Espírito Santo, which created 5.576 jobs, reflecting modest growth in industrial manufacturing production.

Fluminense Manufacturing: sectors on the rise

Among the manufacturing activities in Rio de Janeiro, 16 sectors registered vacancies throughout the year. The maintenance, repair and installation of machinery and equipment sectors had an impressive positive balance of 4.330 vacancies. Other notable segments include metal products manufacturing (+1.646), food products (+1.487) and fuels (+1.188). However, some sectors such as the manufacturing of construction inputs, automobile and body manufacturing and the manufacturing of computer equipment and electronic products recorded negative balances.

Extractive industries: engine of growth

Within the scope of Extractive Industries, October saw the opening of 270 new job vacancies, marking the 34th consecutive month of positive results, with the last negative balance recorded in December 2020. Until October, the Extractive Industries sector generated a total of 3.956 jobs in the state, with emphasis on the oil and gas sector. Rio de Janeiro leads the generation of jobs in the extractive industry across the country, driven by an 8,4% growth in industrial production until September.

In conclusion, Rio de Janeiro is establishing itself as a dynamic hub for generating jobs in the industrial sector, especially in the extractive and transformation industries. This positive trend not only strengthens the state's economy, but also offers new opportunities for the population of Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the vitality of the industrial sector in the region.
