Extended cruise ship stay boosts economy
Another highlight of the season was the increase in the length of time ships spent in the Port of Rio. The change reflected the search for more complete itineraries and in-depth cultural experiences. This had a positive impact on the city's commerce and service network.
Pier Mauá’s operations manager, Marcello Chagas, also assessed the season as positive. “We are closing another season with success. We have seen an increase in interest in alternative tourist routes, which has attracted several vessels for longer stays. The terminal, the shipping companies and their passengers are banking on the success of the next cruise season.“, he declared.
Intense movement and renewed confidence
During the period, the terminal registered intense traffic. In four days, it received five ships simultaneously. There was also one day with four vessels, seven days with three ships and 18 days with two dockings on the same day. The constant flow reinforced the confidence of shipping companies in the Rio de Janeiro destination.
Upcoming events at Pier Mauá
With the end of the cruise season, Pier Mauá is now focusing on its role as an events center. The historic and modern structure of the venue, combined with its strategic location, has made it a great venue for major attractions.
Events already confirmed for 2025 include the Rio Art Tattoo Festival, Rio Innovation Week and the Rio Construction Summit. New attractions are expected to further expand Rio de Janeiro's cultural and business calendar.
