Raízen, a licensee of the Shell brand, inaugurated this week a charging station for electric vehicles in São Paulo that uses sustainable energy. The goal is to install 35 electrical stations by the year 2023.
Raízen, licensed company of the Shell brand, inaugurated this Monday (13) the first Shell Recharge São Paulo electric charging station, in the North Zone of the city. The station has 50 kW and 150 kW chargers, and Shell Recharge can recharge electric vehicles in up to 35 minutes, with energy from a sustainable and clean source. In addition, the licensee of the Shell brand also foresees a network with 35 electrostations of the type until the end of the crop year, which ends in March 2023.
Raízen electric vehicle charging station uses solar energy
Currently, the Shell licensee provides renewable energy to more than 500 Shell stations through distributed generation and projects a reduction of up to 20% in energy costs, saving approximately R$ 3 million per year for resellers.
Energy is generated using photovoltaic solar energy panels or using by-products from sugarcane, among other sources.

According to the company, the electricity distributed is certified by the I-REC Standard, a global system for tracking the environmental attributes of energy, which guarantees clean origin and energy sustainability standards.
According to Raízen's Vice President of Energy and Renewables, Frederico Saliba, the arrival of Shell Recharge in São Paulo should boost the development of the acquisition of electric vehicles in Brazil, by meeting the need for fast charging stations.
Shell, Raízen and Volkswagen close partnership
Os electrophores for electric vehicles in São Paulo make up a partnership between Raízen, Shell and Volkswagen do Brasil to promote electrification in the country. Companies also seek to promote the use of ethanol as a complementary strategy among electric, flex and hybrid vehicles.
The partnership includes initiatives to install charging stations for the brand's electric vehicles and supply sustainable energy to Volkswagen's industries and dealership network in the country. In the case of ethanol, Shell's objective is to develop new ethanol formulas through its licensee, and R&D to improve the efficiency of the biofuel.
The German automaker also recently announced a Center for Research and Development in Biofuels in the country. The objective is to research frontiers in the use of ethanol as a form of electrification via fuel cell, also focusing on exports.
Raízen invests in Tupinambá Energia
In January, Raízen announced its participation in the investment round of BRL 10 million in the startup Tupinambá Energia, a company responsible for charging solutions for electric vehicles. The startup was developed in 2019 and operates end-to-end electro-supply infrastructure, from the app to the charged car. The round also received investments from Plataforma Capital.
The Tupinambá application has more than a thousand charging points mapped throughout Brazil to facilitate the location, by users of electric vehicles, of developments that provide this category of service.
Raízen informed, at the time, that the investment will boost the development of the recharge network in the country, in addition to providing other market solutions. There is also the possibility of converting the investment into a shareholding in the company.
The partnership aims to integrate Raízen's portfolio in electromobility, which includes the distribution of clean energy and electric supply solutions for company fleets, in addition to the installation of an extensive fast charging network through the program shell recharge, announced at the end of 2021.
