Million-dollar agreement emphasizes the production of biodiesel from used cooking oil by 2023.

Commitment to the Future

Santander Brasil, aligned with current environmental needs, reaffirms its position by allocating robust financing of R$90 million to Be8, a central figure in the biodiesel market. This investment marks the bank's third contribution to the company, bringing the total amount to an impressive R$190 million since last year.

Recycled Oil: The Green Revolution

The peculiarity of this investment is due to a clause that determines the use of at least 20.000 tons of used cooking oil in the production of biodiesel in 2023. This mark is 48% higher than that recorded in 2022. The use of reused oil not only promotes an ecological approach but also minimizes pollutant emissions, presenting itself as a more sustainable alternative to traditional diesel.

Pioneering in Sustainability

Historically, the Santander has been a pioneer in financing aimed at sustainable objectives in Brazilian territory. The bank's main objective is to encourage its clients to adapt to a less polluting economic outlook, supporting projects with a positive impact, especially those linked to the biofuels sector.

Esther Unzueta Dominguez, who leads the Sustainable Finance department at Santander Brasil, states: “As a financial institution, we take on the responsibility of encouraging sustainability. We found in Be8 a partner with similar values and goals, enabling lasting agreements.” On the other hand, Erasmo Carlos Battistella, leader of Be8, emphasizes that the partnership with the bank “ratifies our commitment to ESG criteria, reiterating our leading role in the production of sustainable biodiesel in Brazil.”

Upward Trend of UCO in Biodiesel

There was a notable 30% increase in employment used cooking oil in the manufacture of national biodiesel, reaching a significant mark of 148 million liters in 2022. This data highlights the industry's transition to more environmentally friendly conduct.

Be8: Vanguard and Innovation

Since its founding in 2005, Be8 has established itself as a strong name in the biodiesel scene. With a strong presence both nationally and internationally, the company maintains a constant pace of innovation and growth. Its most recent project, the plant in Passo Fundo, promises to be the main large-scale ethanol hub in Rio Grande do Sul.

On the international scene, Be8 strengthens its position with tactical moves in the European and South American market through planned acquisitions and avant-garde initiatives. The company's mission is unequivocal: to be a reference in renewable energy, paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
