MEC and universities open 15 thousand vacancies in free and online special education. Registration open!

In a movement that promises to revolutionize the training of educators in Brazil, three renowned universities have joined forces to offer 15 places on free specialization courses in Special Education, all taught entirely online.

With a growing demand for professionals prepared to deal with diversity in the classroom, the course stands out as a valuable tool for those who want to qualify and participate in the construction of a truly inclusive education.

And the best part: no cost for public school teachers.

What is special education specialization like and who can participate?

The Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB), the State University of Maranhão (UEMA) and the São Paulo State University (Unesp) coordinate the initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The institutions offer fully distance learning courses, offering robust training for public school teachers who wish to improve their performance with students who have specific needs.

UFRB: special education course with a focus on inclusion

At UFRB, the extension course in Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education is aimed at teachers of public basic education, especially those living in Bahia and in municipalities determined by the notice.

The training includes comprehensive modules and activities that add up 120 hours. See the main details:

Goal: Train teachers to develop inclusive pedagogical practices, aligned with Special Education policies and respecting the specificities of students.

Jobs: 5.000 vacancies, aimed at serving different regions of the state of Bahia.

Registration: Up until November 15th, 2024, through the UFRB website. Registration is free and vacancies will be filled in the order of registration and document analysis.

This is a unique opportunity for educators interested in transforming their practices and expanding their skills, promoting a more inclusive education adapted to diversity.

UEMA: online training with a focus on rights and inclusive practices

UEMA provides 5.000 free places in the Special Education course, also with a focus on inclusive education.

The program, offered remotely, integrates synchronous and asynchronous activities, allowing greater flexibility for participants. The modules include:

Diversity: Discussion on the appreciation of diversity in education.

Résumé : Adapting the curriculum to the needs of students.

Inclusive Pedagogical Practices: Tools for building inclusion strategies in classrooms.

Registration is open until November 4th, 2024.

Public school teachers who work in basic education must register through the Superintendence of Education Technologies (STED/UFMA) system, with vacancies filled in the order of registration.

Unesp: training with interactive modules and a focus on diversity

Unesp also participates in the initiative and offers an extension course in Special Education, with 120 hours of online training.

Aimed at teachers and professionals in basic education in São Paulo, the course promotes training in pedagogical practices for inclusion. The main aspects include:

Contents: The course includes theoretical and practical modules, distributed in synchronous classes, video tutorials, reading of teaching material and interactive activities.

Jobs: 5.000, of which 1.250 are for affirmative actions, aimed at black, mixed-race, indigenous people, people with disabilities, transgender people and transvestites.

Classification Criteria: Candidates will be selected according to the order of registration, respecting the availability of vacancies and with preference given to affirmative action groups.

Registrations must be made through the CDeP3-Unesp Selection Process System, and the deadline is November 15th, 2024.

Importance of training for inclusive education

Training teachers in special education is a fundamental pillar to promote inclusion and adequately meet the needs of all students.

As highlighted by the MEC, these courses aim to provide educators with the essential tools for a pedagogical practice that is more sensitive and adapted to diversity.

In addition to expanding teachers' repertoire, this training also encourages the creation of a more welcoming environment for students with special needs, contributing to a fairer and more accessible education.

Benefits and transformations for teachers and students

This training by the MEC in partnership with universities represents not only progress for educators, but also a direct reflection on the quality of education offered in Brazilian schools.

Specialization in special education prepares teachers to promote effective inclusion, allowing students with different needs to learn under equal conditions.

For teachers, it is an unprecedented opportunity for professional development and improvement.

    How to enroll?

Applications must be made on the official websites of the responsible universities, each with its own online application system and specific criteria for candidates.

All courses are free and places are limited. It is essential that interested parties respect the established deadlines to ensure their participation.

Considering that training in special education helps to build a more inclusive school environment, do you believe that this training should be mandatory for all public school teachers?
