O Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) has opened registration for the Lato Sensu Postgraduate course in School management, which will be carried out entirely remotely.
Specialization is a chance to public education professionals, especially for directors of state and municipal schools, who wish to improve their skills and strengthen management in their institutions.
The course is free and aims to prepare participants to perform the role of school managers with excellence, focusing on administrative, organizational and educational service provision activities.

Course details: workload and teaching method
The specialization in School management offers a workload of 420 hours, providing robust training for those who want to stand out in the sector.
The course will be held entirely online, using the IFSC Virtual Teaching and Learning Environment (AVEA/Moodle), in addition to weekly synchronous meetings.
These meetings will take place every Thursdays, from 19pm to 22pm, and will allow direct interaction between students and teachers.
The content will be taught in a flexible way and adapted to the reality of educators, allowing participants to balance their work routine and studies.
Asynchronous classes are an excellent option for those looking to adapt their studies to their schedule, while weekly meetings ensure interaction and monitoring of students' progress.
Distribution of vacancies: five centers in Santa Catarina
The course offers a total of 150 vacancies, distributed among five poles of the state of Santa Catarina.
The vacancies are organized as follows:
- Cricklewood: 30 vacancies
- Itapema: 30 vacancies
- Joinville: 30 vacancies
- St. Joseph: 30 vacancies
- Shark: 30 vacancies
These centers were strategically chosen to meet the demand for training in the most representative regions of the state., ensuring that directors and pedagogical coordinators from different municipalities can participate in the training.
This distribution seeks to facilitate access to the course for a significant number of educators, offering the opportunity to improve school management in a broad manner.
Who can apply?
The priority target audience for the course are school principals working in state and municipal public networks.
This training is especially aimed at those who hold leadership positions in schools, and is an excellent opportunity to improve educational management practices.
However, if there are still vacancies available, other education professionals may be considered, as detailed below:
- Group 1: Directors of state and municipal public schools.
- Group 2: Pedagogical and technical coordinators of state and municipal education departments, as long as they work in the area of training school principals.
- Group 3: Other candidates with a degree recognized by the MEC.
All candidates must be holders of a degree recognized by the the Ministry of Education (MEC): to be able to participate in the selection.
How to participate in the selection process: schedule and registration
As inscriptions for the specialization course will be open until March 31, 2025, exclusively for candidates of the Group 1 (school principals), through the IFSC website: https://sistemadeingresso.ifsc.edu.br/inicio.php.
A team will be carried out by means of electronic public draw, which will occur on the day April 2th 2025, at 15h30, broadcast live on the official IFSC channel at YouTube.
Live streaming ensures transparency and direct access to everyone involved, allowing candidates to follow the selection process in real time.
After the draw, selected candidates must send the necessary documentation for enrollment between the days April 4 and 11, 2025.
As classes will begin on the May 8, 2025, and the course will be offered 100% online, allowing students to adapt to the pace of the classes according to their schedules.
