Free language courses at IFRO
IFRO has just launched Notice No. 10/2025, offering 200 places for Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses in different languages.
The proposal is simple: learn a second language, free of charge, with recognized certification, all from the comfort of your home, through the EAD (Distance Learning) modality.
The flexibility of the distance learning format ensures that students can study at their own pace, without compromising other commitments.
What courses are being offered?
There are four courses in total, with 50 places each, totaling 200 opportunities for the internal and external community at IFRO.
The courses available are:
- Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners – Basic II
- Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners – Advanced I
- English – Basic II
- Spanish – Basic I
These courses will be offered 100% online, with both synchronous and asynchronous classes.
This means that you can follow the classes live, or even access the content at any time, according to your availability.

Who can enroll in the language course?
Registration is open to everyone, both for those who are already part of the IFRO academic community and for those who wish to join.
However, application requirements vary depending on the course chosen.
See below for detailed requirements:
- For all courses: You must be studying or have completed high school (or equivalent).
- For Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners – Basic II: The candidate must present a certificate of completion of Basic I level.
- For Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners – Advanced I: Intermediate II level certificate required.
- For English – Basic II: Presentation of a certificate of Basic I level of English.
- For Spanish – Basic I: Only proof of high school education (in progress or completed).

What to expect from IFRO language courses?
Each course offers a total workload of 60 hours, with weekly classes held via Google Meet and activities in the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
The virtual environment ensures that students can carry out activities and access exclusive content related to the course, in addition to interacting with teachers and colleagues.
to get the certificate of completion of the course, the student must comply at least 75% attendance in classes and get at least 60% utilization in the proposed activities.
The certificate will be issued by the IFRO, a recognized federal educational institution, and will certainly make all the difference on your resume.

How to enroll in distance learning language courses?
Registration for language courses is totally free and can be carried out between 19 and 24 March 2025, exclusively through a online form.

The selection process will be carried out in a single stage, which will consist of analyzing the documents sent in the application form.
The classification will be done by registration order, that is, whoever registers first will have a greater chance of securing a place, within the number of places available.
