How to apply and compete for scholarships in Canada?
Candidates can apply directly to the program. The program website recommends that candidates read the Selection Committee Guide before beginning their application.
The document lists the three criteria for evaluating fellows, and provides information about each criterion. You should also review the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion page to prepare your application.
According to the Canada PhD program, Vanier Canada graduate scholarship selection committees are multidisciplinary and therefore applications should be written with a non-specialist research audience in mind. Applicants who achieve an average score of at least 3,1 in each of the three criteria will be considered eligible for the scholarship.
Students selected for scholarships receive CAD US$50 (approximately R$200) per year for the three years of the courses. According to the program's website, the selection criteria consider three criteria with equal weights, namely Academic Excellence, Research and Leadership, and Potential.
Those interested in participating in the Vanier program must prepare and submit the required documentation by the deadline of the institution where they wish to study; deadlines may vary. Once approved, the university must request the candidate's participation in the Vanier program by October 30th.
Advantages of international scholarships
One of the main benefits of studying abroad is the cultural enrichment that comes from immersing yourself in a new society with different customs, traditions and cuisine. This experience also broadens the understanding of cultural diversity and promotes greater tolerance for differences.
Another significant advantage is the opportunity to learn or improve a new language, as daily contact with native speakers of the destination country encourages the development of verbal and written communication skills, opening doors to future professional opportunities.
In addition, many countries offer high-quality educational institutions and innovative academic programs. Therefore, studying with renowned professors and having access to excellent environments are factors that attract students seeking a high-level education.
