Museu Paulista is offering 500 places for a completely free online course, broadcast on YouTube. Registration is open until September 16, 2024. Don't miss this unique opportunity!

Have you ever imagined taking part in a completely free course, offered by one of the most renowned institutions in Brazil, without having to leave your home? This opportunity is knocking at your door with the new initiative of the Museu Paulista, which has just opened 500 places for an online course, broadcast on YouTube.

The promise is a total immersion in the nuances of Brazilian history and culture, exploring the development of the exhibition “Sitting, keeping, sleeping: Museu da Casa Brasileira and Museu Paulista in dialogue”. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.

A course that goes beyond exposure

With the aim of analyzing in depth the creation and behind the scenes of the exhibition, the course proposes a differentiated approach.

According to Museu Paulista, crucial topics will be discussed, such as the selection of collections, curatorial and exhibition decisions, and how these choices reflect the diversity of solutions for everyday activities of sitting, storing and sleeping.

But it doesn't stop there. The course will also discuss specific issues related to collections, promoting a broader understanding of their formation and convergences.

In addition, the speakers will bring up theoretical discussions aligned with the institutions' lines of research, exploring the lives and stories of the people who used and produced the furniture items.

What to expect from the course?

Divided into two days, the course has a total workload of 6 hours. On September 23, 2024, participants will have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the exhibition, seeing photographs of the modules and cores, and listening to detailed comments about the main pieces in the collections.

The curatorial and exhibition choices, as well as the formation of the collections in dialogue, will be explained at this first moment.

Yes, on September 24, 2024, the focus will be more specific, with individual presentations by lecturers on topics related to furniture collections in museum institutions and the study of bodily practices in relation to furniture. These topics not only enrich the understanding of furniture as a source for history, but also for other areas of knowledge.

Registration is open, but time is short

Registration for this exclusive course is now open and will run until September 16th, 2024. The selection of participants will be made in order of registration, considering the first five hundred registrants who send the necessary documentation.

And the best part: all of this is offered free of charge, without any registration fees, through the APOLO Platform.

An experience accessible to everyone

This course, in addition to being an excellent learning opportunity, stands out for being completely accessible.

The 500 available vacancies are intended for anyone interested in delving deeper into the cultural and historical studies covered by the Museu Paulista and the Museu da Casa Brasileira. And all this without having to leave home, since the activities will be broadcast on the YouTube platform.

This initiative is a rare opportunity to connect with Brazilian history and culture, through a specialized perspective that offers a deeper and more contextualized understanding of everyday objects.

Do not miss this opportunity! Sign up and discover how curatorial choices can reflect the cultural diversity of a society.
