Trail model, similar to the XRE 190, has a 184 cc engine and an affordable price, but is outdated compared to the Brazilian versions
The 190 Honda XR2024L, a mid-size trail bike, is highlighted in countries neighboring Brazil, such as Argentina, Colombia and Mexico. Considered a “big sister” of the Honda Bros 160, the XR190L shares several components, including the engine, with the XRE 190, a popular model in Brazil. However, despite its attractive features for foreign markets, the model still features technologies considered obsolete by Brazilian standards.
XR190L Design and Engine
The 190 Honda XR2024L has a 184cc single cylinder engine, air-cooled, which delivers a power of 15,6 horsepower at 7.750 rpm and torque of 15,7 Nm at 6.000 rpm. The model is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox and was designed for those looking for a versatile motorcycle, capable of tackling both paved roads and rougher terrain. However, its suspension is simpler compared to other bikes in the line, with a shorter stroke, which limits its robustness.
Another point that differentiates it from models sold in Brazil is the analog panel, something that has already been overcome in more modern versions. Priced at 61.990 Mexican pesos, or around R$ 17,5 thousand in direct conversion, the XR190L offers an affordable alternative in these markets, but it lacks technological updates to compete with models recently launched in Brazil.

Comparison with Bros 160 and XRE 190
While the Honda XR190L keeps its engine similar to that of the XRE 190, in terms of components and design, the bike is behind its Brazilian competitors. In Brazil, the Bros 160 has just been updated to the 2025 line with a new look, including LED headlights and taillights, a more modern digital dashboard, as well as revised front suspension and ABS brakes in the top-of-the-line version. This puts it in a higher level when compared to the XR190L.
With these changes, the expectation now is that Honda will make a similar update to the XRE 190, aiming to maintain competitiveness in the low-displacement motorcycle market. The brand has already begun to reformulate its trail line in Brazil, with launches such as the new Honda Sahara 300 and Tornado 300, which are attracting the attention of motorcyclists looking for greater power and modernity.
XR190L lag in Brazil
The possibility of the Honda XR190L being sold in Brazil seems remote, at least in its current configuration. With outdated characteristics compared to what the Brazilian market demands, like the analog panel and the drum brakes at the rear, the model would hardly be well received here. The only viable way would be a significant update, following the same model as the recent renovations of the Bros 160 and other models of the brand.
The Brazilian market has shown a preference for more technological and robust motorcycles, which can be seen by the success of Honda motorcycles with ABS brakes, digital panels and modern design. However, if Honda decides to update the XR190L, it could position itself as a intermediate option between the Bros 160 and the XRE 190, attracting an audience looking for a more affordable model, but without giving up some innovations.
Medium size? It's a low displacement motorcycle, 15 hp, 1,5 kg of torque. A ****.
