Free specialization with FURG's seal of approval

The Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) is offering a completely free specialization course, focusing on municipal public management.

The project is part of the Open University of Brazil (UAB) program, which aims to democratize access to quality education throughout the country.

Classes will be held using the Distance Learning (EAD) model, but with mandatory face-to-face meetings at specific locations.

This combination allows students to have the flexibility of remote study, while maintaining practical contact with their teachers and coursemates.

According to information from the university itself, the course was designed to serve both public sector workers and graduates from any field who want to expand their skills in public administration.

Distribution of vacancies

In total, FURG provides 150 vacancies, distributed among seven regional centers in the state of Rio Grande do Sul:

  • Cerro Largo: 18 vacancies
  • Mainstay: 26 vacancies
  • Herval: 18 vacancies
  • Mustards: 18 vacancies
  • Saint Victory of Palmar: 18 vacancies
  • Saint Anthony of the Patrol: 26 vacancies

Who can apply?

Selection for the course follows an order of priorities:

  1. Graduates who work in public bodies and have a permanent contract.
  2. Graduates who work in public bodies with temporary contracts.
  3. Professionals with a higher education degree in any area who are interested in public management.

To participate, it is mandatory to present a diploma recognized by Ministry of Education (MEC).

This requirement ensures that the course is made up of qualified professionals, who will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to strengthen municipal administrations.

Why choose public management?

The public management area plays an essential role in the development of cities and in meeting the needs of the population.

Qualified professionals in this area are responsible for implementing public policies, managing financial and human resources and ensuring that municipal administrations function efficiently.

Furthermore, the course offered by FURG is a free training opportunity, allowing professionals to improve their skills without compromising their personal budget.

This is an important initiative to expand access to education and strengthen public administration in Brazil.

Benefits of the EAD model

Distance Learning (EAD) has established itself as a practical and efficient alternative for those who want to qualify, but do not have the availability to attend face-to-face classes every day.

In the case of FURG's specialization, the EAD model offers:

  • Flexible hours: Study at the time that is most convenient for you.
  • Cost reduction: With no need for daily commuting, students save time and money.
  • Digital inclusion: The modality encourages the use of modern technologies, improving participants’ digital skills.
