New Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser? Toyota's long-awaited compact SUV is about to hit the automotive market, promising to impress with its 204 horsepower and rugged design.

Another compact SUV from Toyota is set to hit the automotive market and it will be a model that promises to attract off-road vehicle enthusiasts. With features inspired by the Compact Cruiser EV prototype, the Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser combines the robustness of the classic Land Cruiser with reduced dimensions and greater accessibility, ideal for the urban and adventurous public.

Check out the details of what the engine of Toyota's new SUV will be like

At around 4,5 meters long, the Mini Land Cruiser, Toyota's new compact SUV, will have a vintage design that evokes nostalgia, but with modern features. Its three-door body and larger interior space than the Suzuki Jimny position it in the automotive market as a practical option for those looking for off-road performance without sacrificing comfort.

Under the hood, the Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser is expected to be powered by a 2,8-liter turbodiesel engine derived from the Toyota Hilux, as well as all-wheel drive and advanced features for challenging terrain, such as hill descent control and specific off-road driving modes. This puts Toyota's compact SUV in direct competition with vehicles such as Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco Sport in the automotive market.

Although there is still no official confirmation of its arrival in the European or Brazilian automotive market, production of the Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser could begin as early as November 2024, with a launch scheduled for 2025. The expectation is that Toyota's new SUV will combine modern technologies and sustainable options, aligning with current market demands.

Toyota's new compact SUV delivers 204 horsepower

The Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser has a 2.8 turbo diesel four-cylinder engine that works in partnership with an electric starter generator and a 48V battery. Power is 204 hp and torque is 50,9 kgfm. This electrical system helps reduce fuel consumption and pollutant gas emissions.

In terms of dimensions, Toyota's new SUV will be around 4,50 m long and have a wheelbase of 22,75 m. For comparison purposes, the Jeep Compass currently sold in Brazil is a mid-size SUV measuring 4,40 m. It should come with an automatic transmission, 4WD with several driving modes and other highlights.

Versions equipped with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine, which produces 166 horsepower and equips the Toyota Hilux Champ, are expected. Electric versions of this compact Toyota SUV can also be expected in the future. In the Japanese brand's portfolio, the Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser will be a more robust option than the Corolla Cross and smaller than the SW4, Land Cruiser and other SUVs. It will begin production in mid-November in Thailand and sales are expected to begin between the end of the year and the beginning of 2025.

Other vehicles produced by Toyota

In addition to this Toyota 'Baby' Land Cruiser, Toyota's new SUV, the brand is looking to increase its representation in the automotive market and is preparing a series of launches for 2025. Currently, the Japanese automaker has six new products ready to be announced.

Among the models is the Yaris cross, which will arrive in Brazil in December of this year. The compact SUV has a 1.5 naturally aspirated engine with 106 hp and a hybrid version. Even before reaching the Brazilian market, the car has been controversial, being involved in a fraud scheme.
