Toyota brings to Brazil the new Hiace, a van designed to โ€œreplaceโ€ the Kombi with power, safety and space for 14 occupants. The model includes standard items and advanced safety features, promising a comfortable and robust experience.

The Brazilian automotive market is about to receive a new product that promises to revolutionize passenger transport in vans.

After decades of dominance of the iconic Combo, Toyota is now looking to fill the void left by the classic Volkswagen van, launching the Hiace, a robust and modern bet for those looking for power, space and safety.

Expectations are high, and the public is already asking: will this be the definitive successor to the Kombi?

According to the website's findings Segredos Cars, the Hiace will be launched in Brazil in the first half of 2025, bringing features that have attracted attention in countries where it already operates, such as Argentina.

The version confirmed for the country is the one intended for passenger transport, with capacity for 14 occupants and a warranty of up to 150 thousand kilometers or five years, whichever comes first.

Power and comfort with a diesel engine

The new Hiace promises to deliver not only space and comfort, but also performance that meets Brazilian needs.

Equipped with a 2.8 diesel engine, the model offers 165 horsepower at 3.600 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a maximum torque of 42,8 kgfm between 1.600 and 2.200 rpm.

This performance is managed by a six-speed automatic transmission, providing a smooth and safe driving experience, suitable for long trips with many passengers.

The maximum speed of the Hiace is limited to 100 km/h, meeting the objective of safe transportation for trips in cities or highways.

The van has rear-wheel drive, which favors stability, especially in more challenging urban stretches.

Furthermore, with a 70-liter fuel tank, the Hiace seeks a balance between autonomy and economy.

Space and capacity for 14 people

With impressive dimensions, the Hiace promises to be one of the most spacious models on the market.

It measures 5,91 meters in length, 1,95 meters in width and 2,28 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 3,86 meters, offering ample interior space for passengers.

Os seats are distributed in a 13+1 configuration, that is, with capacity for 13 passengers and a driver, positioned in such a way as to guarantee comfort and mobility inside the vehicle.

In addition, the model comes with 16-inch wheels, equipped with 235/65 R16 tires, providing stability and support for the total weight of passengers and cargo.

Standard equipment focused on comfort

The Hiace arrives with a list of equipment designed to offer maximum comfort to passengers.

According to information from Autos Segredos, the configuration destined for Brazil will include air conditioning with manual adjustment and outlets for the rear seats, rear cameras to facilitate maneuvers, and electric windows in the front.

The seats, covered in fabric and synthetic material, have height, depth and reclining adjustments for the driver, as well as longitudinal adjustment for passengers.

For added convenience, rear passengers will also have reclining seatbacks, armrests in the center aisle and six USB ports, providing constant connection for everyone.

The model also includes a multifunctional steering wheel, a digital instrument panel with a 4,2-inch TFT screen, and a multimedia center equipped with a 9-inch screen and Bluetooth with hands-free, ideal for traveling and safe communication in traffic.

There are six speakers and a USB port, which guarantees an integrated and personalized entertainment experience for passengers.

Technology and security as a priority

Toyota also focuses on safety, one of the Hiace's most notable features, especially as it is a model designed for transporting passengers.

The van offers front airbags for the driver and passenger, as well as a dedicated knee airbag for the driver, providing an above-average level of protection.

The brakes feature ABS and EBD, which distributes braking force between the wheels, and emergency brake lights (EBS) to avoid collisions during sudden braking.

In addition, the model has traction control (TRC) and stability control (VSC), hill start assist (HAC), as well as front and rear fog lights, optimizing visibility in adverse conditions.

In Argentina, where the Hiace is already manufactured and sold, white is the only color available. It is expected that the same will occur in Brazil, maintaining a standardized look that makes identification easier.

Launch and expectations for the Brazilian market

Scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2025, the Toyota Hiace is already arousing curiosity and expectations among both fleet owners and independent drivers looking for a modern and efficient alternative for passenger transport.

According to experts, the model should gain a good market share, especially among those looking for a reliable and well-equipped solution for public transport.

Although the sale price has not yet been disclosed, the promise of a five-year or 150-kilometer warranty could be an important differentiator in buyers' choices.

With this news, the question remains: The Toyota Hiace will be able to replace the iconic Kombi in the hearts of Brazilians? We just have to wait for the launch to see how the market will react.

-Did you forget that the Kombi is category (B) and has 9 occupants?
How is a car of this size going to replace it, imagine the priceโ€ฆ making a comparison with the Kombi with an updated price!
The Kombi was a popular car, affordable for workers, not the one being advertised.

The Scudo, Jumpy and Expert trio from Stelantis has long since replaced the combi! It's a shame that this trio still doesn't have an automatic transmission! I have a Scudo. It's great. It fits in the garage in my building, which is in the basement. It's a shame it's not automatic!

The Kombi was a popular utility vehicle that a family man bought and transported his entire family in. This model will be the same as current vans and will never replace the Kombi, unfortunately.

They talk about Kombi, the Kombi was accessible to the worker, these cars are expensive and impossible for the worker to buy, they have to manufacture vans, for small business owners, not just for the giants.

Maximum speed limited to 100km/h, is that right? Does this mean that there are Brazilian highways where she cannot drive at the maximum speed allowed on the road? She won't even overtake a truck. I honestly don't understand.

All cars should not exceed the maximum speed allowed in the country.
