Toyota makes history by achieving a world record with an extraordinary consumption of 2,5 liters per 100 km in an epic journey.

Vehicle that travels more than 5.000 kilometers with fuel consumption equivalent to a bottle of soda. This almost surreal feat was achieved by Toyota, who recently joined the Guinness World Records with an impressive fuel economy record.

The Toyota Prius, in a different version than the one available in Brazil, completed an epic coast-to-coast crossing in the United States with a remarkable consumption of just 2,5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, which is equivalent to about 40 km/l.

The journey, which covered a total distance of 5.168,7 km, started in Los Angeles and ended in New York.

The challenge faced by Wayne Gerdes, the driver responsible for the feat, was immense, going through elevations of up to 2.100 meters and temperatures above 40°C in the Mojave Desert.

Driving challenges and strategies

Even facing these extreme conditions, the Prius maintained its impressive fuel efficiency.

Toyota emphasized that the result obtained does not reflect the vehicle's typical consumption in daily use., but still, the feat is worthy of note.

Gerdes, an expert in efficient driving techniques, shared several tips to improve fuel consumption.

Among its recommendations are smooth accelerations when starting from stops, maintaining uniform pressure on the accelerator pedal e easing off the accelerator pedal when approaching a stop, all simple strategies that can make a big difference in consumption efficiency.

History and impact of the Prius

The Toyota Prius is not a new model for those who follow the automotive sector. Launched more than two decades ago, the Prius was a pioneer in the popularization of hybrid vehicles.

By combining electric and combustion engines, the Prius helped set a new standard for fuel efficiency., paving the way for the modern era of hybrid automobiles.

In Brazil, the Prius was officially introduced in 2013, offering a more economical and sustainable option for consumers in a scenario of growing concern about energy efficiency and the reduction of carbon emissions.

Current situation and future of the Toyota Prius in Brazil

Although the Prius has played a crucial role in the evolution of hybrid vehicles, Toyota confirmed that the model is currently not part of the brand's plans in Brazil.

This is particularly disappointing for enthusiasts, as the latest model offers an improved design and even greater efficiency.

The Prius, now more stylish and efficient, represents a significant milestone in automotive technology, and its absence from the Brazilian market is a notable loss.

With the advancement of hybrid vehicle technologies and the growing emphasis on sustainability, what innovations do you believe will have the most impact on the future of hybrid cars in Brazil?
