New Toyota Taisor mini SUV is cheaper than Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross and promises to hit the market with a 1.0 turbo engine that delivers 100 horsepower

With the discontinuation of the Yaris in the Brazilian market scheduled for 2025, Toyota faces a challenge: how to fill the gap left by an affordable entry-level model. Yaris cross, which is coming, will have a higher price and will not meet all the needs of the public. In this context, an interesting option arises: the Toyota Taisor, a compact SUV that promises to be a perfect choice for the Brazilian market.

Goodbye Yaris! The Toyota Taisor is a model that is already marketed in some countries emerging markets in Asia, such as India and Indonesia. It was developed in partnership with Suzuki, focusing on the production of low-cost vehicles. The result of this collaboration is a car that combines robust and sporty style, attracting the attention of potential buyers.

Taisor has a look that resembles other popular models, such as the Fiat Pulse and the Renault Kadian

The design of the new Toyota Taisor is one of its strong points. It has a look that is reminiscent of other popular models, such as the Fiat Pulse and the Renault Kadian. At 4 meters long, the Taisor is slightly smaller than the Pulse (4,09m) and the Kadian (4,06m). The wheelbase is 2,52m, width is 1,76m and height is 1,55m. In addition, the trunk offers a capacity of 300 liters, which is quite practical for a car in this segment.

The Toyota Taisor mini SUV’s modern look is complemented by a Piano Black front grille, full LED headlights and a coupe-like body design. The taillights connected by an LED strip add a contemporary touch to the model. 16-inch wheels and chrome window trims complete the attractive look.

Engine and Performance of Toyota's new mini SUV

Toyota's new Taisor mini SUV offers engine options to suit different needs. The entry-level versions come equipped with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine that generates up to 90 horsepower. For those looking for more performance, there is a 1.0-liter turbo engine option that delivers 100 horsepower and 17,2 kgfm of torque. This turbo engine is an attractive choice for those looking for better performance and fuel efficiency.

The transmission options for the Taisor are varied. The new Toyota model can be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic that simulates up to seven speeds. The manual option is a good alternative for those who prefer greater control over driving, while the automatic offers comfort and practicality in everyday life.

Interior and Comfort

The interior of the Toyota Taisor mini SUV follows the trend of its competitors, with a predominantly hard plastic finish. While this may leave something to be desired in terms of sophistication, the car comfortably seats four adults. The equipment list is quite interesting, considering its price range.

The Taisor, Toyota's new mini SUV, comes equipped with keyless entry, head-up display, digital climate control and a multimedia center with an 8-inch screen. This center offers wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 360º camera system. These features are quite attractive and make the Taisor a modern and connected option.

Security

In terms of safety, Toyota's new SUV has some notable features, but it doesn't bring any major innovations. It has collision warnings, emergency braking, six airbags, and traction and stability controls. However, some features that are already offered by competitors, such as adaptive cruise control, are missing.

While the Taisor mini SUV is an affordable and well-equipped model, it lacks some of the safety features that have become standard on rival vehicles. The lack of more advanced driving assistants may be a downside for some consumers, but this is offset by the model's competitive price.

Price and Accessibility

The Taisor's price is one of its main attractions. In India, the model has a starting price of around R$75.000, rising to R$100.000 for the most complete versions. This price range is extremely competitive, especially considering that, currently, Toyota's most affordable SUV in Brazil is the Corolla Cross, which starts at R$169.990.

Taisor the new mini SUV cheaper than Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross

When comparing the Taisor with the new Yaris Cross, which will be priced between R$120.000 and R$180.000, it is clear that the Taisor could easily fill a gap in Toyota's portfolio in Brazil. While the Yaris Cross is positioned as a more premium model, the Taisor presents itself as an affordable entry-level option, ideal for those looking for a compact SUV.

The new Toyota Taisor mini SUV has all the ingredients to be a success in Brazil and win the hearts of Brazilians. Its attractive design, efficient engine and competitive price make it a viable option for many consumers. Although it is not currently in Toyota's plans for Brazil, its features and affordability could make it a popular model among buyers looking for a compact SUV.
