The United States and El Salvador plan a partnership to deport immigrants and fight gangs.

In a recent White House meeting with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, US President Donald Trump announced a new strategy for dealing with the immigration illegal and violent gangs.

Trump said the United States plans to deport as many illegal immigrants as possible, emphasizing the need to protect the country from individuals it considers a security threat.

Deporting immigrants: Trump's promise to fight gangs in the United States

During the meeting, Trump highlighted collaboration with El Salvador to combat gangs, mentioning that the Latin American country has become a destination for deportees.

The US president has criticized his predecessor Joe Biden's immigration policy, saying "open borders" have allowed millions of illegal immigrants to enter the country, many of whom are believed to be members of criminal organizations.

Trump also suggested that the United States would help build more prisons in El Salvador to house deported immigrants, as part of a joint effort to combat international gangs such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.

According to reports, in recent days, El Salvador has received hundreds of deportees, including alleged members of these gangs.

“Can you build some more (prisons), please? As many as we can get out of our country, the ones that incompetent Joe Biden has allowed to come in here through open borders. We have millions of people who should not be in this country and who are dangerous — we have millions of people who are murderers, drug dealers.”

Protests and criticism against deportation in the United States

The policy of deporting immigrants has generated controversy. The government Trump, although it has deported hundreds of people with criminal records, refuses to reveal the identities or evidence against those deported.

This has sparked protests and lawsuits from immigrant families and civil rights advocates, who accuse the government of violating fundamental freedoms by treating immigrants indiscriminately.

The recent US Supreme Court decision allowing large-scale deportations using wartime authority has intensified the debate over the effectiveness and morality of the Trump administration's immigration policies.
