Under pressure from China and Russia, the U.S. Navy is turning to bold strategies to maintain its supremacy. Innovative logistics and global alliances ensure a fleet ready for challenges. Will these changes be enough to overcome emerging rivals? Discover how the future of maritime security is being shaped today!
Under increasing pressure from Chinese naval expansion and Russia's aggressive strategy, the US Navy is taking a bold step to secure its supremacy.
Profound changes in naval maintenance and logistics promise to reconfigure American military power. But will these moves be enough to balance the global geopolitical chessboard?
Recently, during the forum “America’s Future Fleet: Reinvigorating the Maritime Industrial Base,” Admiral Lisa Franchetti detailed the transformations underway.
- Brazil on high alert! Venezuela holds military exercise on border with Brazil and worries governors; Lula government on alert
- Turkey surprises the world with Bayraktar KIZILELMA: supersonic unmanned fighter dominates the skies with AESA radar, revolutionary technology and success in historic flight test
- Legendary aircraft carrier for sale for a penny! The iconic 87.000-ton USS John F. Kennedy leaves history behind and heads for scrapping on her final mission
- China takes drastic decision and restricts global export of strategic products used in civil and military spheres
A navy adopted an innovative logistics approach known as “just-in-case” to replace the previous “just-in-time” tactic.
The goal is clear: to increase efficiency, avoid delays in maintenance projects and strengthen fleet readiness. This strategy seeks to counter advances by rival powers in the Arctic, the Pacific and other critical regions.
The challenge of China's naval rise
In recent years, the Chinese Navy has surpassed the US in number of vessels, although not yet in tonnage or operational capabilities.
Since 2020, Beijing has been modernizing its fleet with ships such as the Type 055 destroyers, which rival the American Arleigh Burke class in terms of technology. At the same time, China is accelerating its shipbuilding and advancing technologies that challenge US hegemony.
Furthermore, tensions around Taiwan put the EUA on high alert. Should a naval blockade or Chinese military action occur, the US Navy would be forced to intervene in an unfavorable strategic scenario, given its geographic proximity to China.
Russian Resistance and the North Atlantic
Meanwhile, Russia is expanding its presence in the Arctic and North Atlantic, where its submarine fleet remains one of the most threatening in the world.
The conflict in Ukraine has heightened the need for naval preparedness, forcing the US to redeploy resources to counter Russian threats and ensure the security of NATO allies.
Innovation in naval maintenance
The Navy’s new approach prioritizes making materials available in advance. Franchetti explained that maintenance planning is now done 120 days in advance, ensuring that all materials are ready to begin repairs immediately.
This change eliminates delays caused by lack of parts and reduces the need for cannibalization of ships.
“We need to have all the materials on hand to start work on time,” Franchetti highlighted. To this end, strategic stocks were created to ensure the availability of critical components in case of emergencies.
Fleet expansion and modernization
Another key measure is extending the service life of 12 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. These ships remain critical for anti-drone and anti-missile defense operations.
In addition, new projects such as the Zumwalt-class destroyers are being developed, incorporating advanced technologies to meet future challenges.
Revitalizing the maritime industrial base is also a priority. Investments in infrastructure and training aim to increase production capacity and reduce the construction time of new vessels.
However, experts point out that the US shipping industry still faces significant challenges in competing with China's fast pace.
Strategic Partnerships
To strengthen its global position, the United States is strengthening alliances with NATO and Indo-Pacific countries. These partnerships provide access to military bases and promote joint training, increasing response capabilities in critical regions.
A recent example was the AUKUS agreement between the US, UK and Australia, which includes the construction of nuclear submarines to reinforce the presence in the Pacific.
With a mix of technological innovations, logistical changes and global alliances, the US Navy seeks to maintain its hegemony.
However, the rise of rival powers and increasing geopolitical complexity call into question America's ability to sustain its dominant position.
Do you believe these changes will be enough to preserve US naval leadership?
In international geopolitics, the US has a huge advantage because it has well-established military bases around the world.
and the proximity of the US to the Panama Canal (blocks world trade)…gives a huge advantage
For China without the Americas
It's BANKRUPT in 60 days (then their people "overthrow the regime!")
The US could make a strategic partnership with Brazil in defense because we are a power!
Now wake up to 2024.
