The University of São Paulo, through the University's Rectorate, has announced the opening of registrations for two free extension and improvement courses offered in person at the institution's headquarters, which cover topics related to territories and urban history. The first course explores the growing presence of indigenous peoples in cities and their social impact. It will begin with an analysis of the human sciences and the expansion of science. The importance of public policies that respect ways of life in peripheral areas of São Paulo.
The course will culminate with the cosmopolitics of the Guarani Mbya in the Jaraguá Indigenous Land, highlighting their vision of a city that becomes a forest, rich in biodiversity.
The second course addresses the diversity of archives used in urban history, mapping the renewal of this field and its relationship with different types of documents. The course will address the structuring of archives and the challenges this poses to researchers. In addition, it will analyze public history practices, such as the formation of community collections and exhibitions, and their contribution to urban history.
How to enroll in free USP courses
Registration for USP's free courses is free of charge, through the APOLO platform, until August 30 and 31, 2024, respectively, according to the institutional calendar. The classification of the selected candidates will be through an Electronic Draw scheduled to take place on September 02, 2024, through the University's own registration platform.

Created in 1934, USP is a public university, maintained by the State of São Paulo and linked to the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation.
