Uber bans HB20, Sandero and even Audi from the Comfort and Black categories! Drivers will need to change cars to continue on the platform.

Ride-hailing drivers will have to reinvent themselves after the company banned HB20, Sandero and even Audi models from the Comfort and Black categories. With the new requirements, many drivers may lose income or need to urgently change their car. Find out which models were banned and which can still be used!

Uber, one of the largest transportation platforms transport by app of the world, surprised Brazilian drivers by announcing a new rule that excludes several car models from the Comfort and Black categories.

The measure, which aims to raise the quality standard of premium services, directly affects drivers who depend on these segments to obtain better earnings.

Uber revamps premium service, removes popular models

The company's decision to restrict which vehicles can operate in the more sophisticated categories reflects a growing demand for greater comfort and sophistication in racing.

Widely used models, such as Hyundai HB20 and Renault Sandero, will no longer be accepted in the Comfort and Black categories.

This change is part of a plan to align the platform's standards in Brazil with those practiced in other countries.

The measure particularly affects drivers who, until now, used accessible vehicles to meet these premium categories.

Now, only models that meet the new standards of comfort, safety and sophistication can be registered.

Cars that will be banned from the Comfort and Black categories

Uber has already released an official list of models that will lose their eligibility to operate in these premium categories. Check out some of the vehicles that will be excluded:

  • Hyundai HB20 (hatch)
  • Renault Sandero
  • JAC Motors T6
  • Ford Focus
  • Peugeot 2008
  • Ford Territory
  • Caoa Chery Tiggo 3X
  • Audi RS7
  • Mitsubishi Pajero TR4
  • Citroën C5 and C4LL
  • Land Rover Freelander
  • Honda CR-V
  • Suzuki Vitara
  • Peugeot 508 and 408
  • Ford Edge
  • Toyota Hilux and Corolla Fielder
  • Suzuki Grand Vitara
  • Renault fluence
  • Lifan X60

This change represents a major impact for drivers using these models.

Replacing them with more sophisticated vehicles can mean a high investment, something unfeasible for many.

How does the change affect Uber drivers?

The main concern for drivers is that without a vehicle that meets Uber Comfort and Uber Black standards, their income options are more limited.

Many drivers used these services precisely because they offered higher rates. and, consequently, better profitability.

Now, drivers who have one of the excluded models need to decide between two alternatives:

  1. Move to lower categories like UberX, where rates are lower, directly impacting your earnings.
  2. Invest in a new car that meets the Comfort or Black criteria, which can represent a high cost and is not always accessible.

For many, the second option is not viable, since the costs of purchasing and maintaining more luxurious vehicles are high.

This may result in some drivers giving up or having to look for other sources of income.

Alternatives for drivers who want to continue with Uber Comfort or Black

Given the new reality imposed by Uber, some models may be good options for those who wish to remain in the premium categories without having to invest in excessively luxurious cars.

Check out some recommended alternatives:

1. Fiat Cronos Drive

The Fiat Cronos Drive stands out for its interior space, comfort and a 525-liter trunk. In addition, it has efficient fuel consumption, making it a viable option for drivers who want to continue in Comfort.

2 Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is one of the most reliable sedans in Brazil. With a high standard of comfort, advanced technology and a history of low depreciation, He is an excellent choice for drivers who want to work for Uber Black.

3.Honda Civic

Another widely recognized sedan, the Honda Civic It is a spacious, reliable model that is very well accepted by passengers. Its durability and comfort make it an interesting option.

4. Chevrolet cruze

The Cruze is a car that balances performance, safety and technology. Its moderate fuel consumption and good value for money may be attractive to drivers looking to migrate to Uber Comfort.

5. Nissan Sentras

The Nissan Sentra is one of the options that combine comfort and safety without excessive maintenance costs. With a modern design and good fuel economy, it is a viable alternative for Comfort and Black drivers.

What to expect from the future of ride-hailing?

This change highlights a trend at Uber in refine the quality of services offered and demand higher standards from drivers.

While on the one hand this can guarantee a superior experience for passengers, on the other may exclude a significant portion of drivers who are unable to adapt to the new requirements.

With this new regulation, the ride-hailing market could become even more competitive, with drivers needing to invest more and more in high-standard vehicles to continue operating in premium categories.

The question remains: how far will Uber go with these demands and how will this affect the Brazilian market?

For drivers who wish to continue in these categories, the alternative is to seek new financing, partnerships with rental companies or betting on models that fit Uber's criteria.

The question that hangs in the air is whether these requirements will be sustainable in the long term or whether the company will have to relax its rules in light of drivers' reactions.

It was about time. Unfortunately, Brazilians want to enjoy and earn but they don't want to have expenses.
If I want a comfort or black category, I want a car in that category after all... I pay more for that! Nothing against Sandero, HB20, etc., but let's face it... they are not cars in those categories.

But taking the Ford Territory off the list as an example is just kidding. There are cars out there that should never leave the Blacklist.

Taking away luxury cars and keeping the Cronos is a joke, isn't it? Cronos is an Uber x... Keeping a Cronos and taking away an Audi Land Rover and taking away a Ford Territory, what criteria does Uber use?
