The mining company says in a note that the demobilization process of its plant in Bahia will be completed by the end of this year.

“Vale Manganês has tried all viable alternatives, over the last ten years, to keep the operation self-sustaining and competitive in the market”, says Vale.

According to the statement, the mining company will adopt the necessary measures within its reach to minimize the possible impacts of the demobilization of its employees.

“Several actions are under discussion, including: negotiation of a voluntary termination program, extension of medical assistance to employees and their dependents, support in the process of relocation in the labor market and mapping of vacancies for the possible transfer of workers to other operations from Vale.”

manganese and ferroalloys

Who would have thought that items as different as the battery and the ink would have anything in common? Manganese, the fourth most used metal in the world, is present in the composition of these and many other objects that are part of your daily life.

The mining company Vale is one of the largest producers of the mineral, essential in the manufacture of steel, and also of ferroalloys, combinations of iron with one or more chemical elements, such as manganese itself.

Although almost 90% of manganese production is destined for the steel industry, its applications also include the manufacture of fertilizers, animal feed and cars.

Brazil has 10% of the world's reserves of manganese, behind only Ukraine (24%), South Africa (22%) and Australia (16%).
