With the strategic union between Vestas, ZF Wind Power and ABS Wind, combined with the interest in exploring green hydrogen, the state of Rio Grande do Norte consolidates itself as a crucial center for wind development and energy transition in Brazil, promoting not only technological advances, but economic growth and sustainability.

In the ever-evolving wind energy landscape, Vestas, a renowned global manufacturer of wind turbines, has joined forces with ZF Wind Power, the world's leading producer of gearboxes for wind power, and the Brazilian company ABS Wind, specialized in maintenance. This strategic collaboration aims to optimize the maintenance of components produced by ZF Wind Power in Brazil, focusing on efficiency and agility in responding to the needs of Vestas' regional customers. A crucial step in this undertaking is the use of the vast experience and qualified team of ABS Wind, headquartered in Macaíba, in Rio Grande do Norte.

And he emphasizes that this strategic cooperation with ZF Wind Power and ABS Wind not only meets the needs of customers, especially in the Northeast region of Brazil, but also increases the competitiveness of Vestas' service solutions on a regional scale.

David Zanella, Business Director at ABS Wind, emphasizes that this agreement is a recognition of the investment in infrastructure, technology and talent made by the company in recent years.

It highlights the importance of establishing a reliable local repair option for major manufacturers, contributing to the sustainable development of the local industry.

This strategic partnership also translates into concrete initiatives, such as the development of an ABS Wind site in Macaíba.

That reinforces Vestas' commitment to Rio Grande do Norte and the Northeast, establishing the region as a service and services hub for wind farms.

In addition to the positive impact on customer service infrastructure, this initiative also generates qualified employment opportunities for professionals in the renewable energy sector.

Rodrigo Ugarte points out that this initiative is also aligned with the role of articulation with the Union, aiming to boost green neo-industrialization and position Brazil as a leader in the global energy transition.

In addition to partnerships in maintenance and services, Vestas is also keeping an eye on the potential of green hydrogen in Brazil.

The Danish company has already shown interest in being part of the green hydrogen hub in Rio Grande do Norte.

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the state government in March 2022, aiming at the viability of an industrial port that will cover offshore wind turbine projects and green hydrogen production.

Rio Grande do Norte, national leader in installed wind power capacity on land, with an impressive 6,6 gigawatts, also has great offshore potential, estimated at more than 140 gigawatts, according to governor Fátima Bezerra.
